AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING ASSIGNMENT PAY FOR ANY POLICE DEPARTMENT
EMPLOYEES WHO ARE ALSO ASSIGNED DUTIES OF A GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE
NATURE 1N THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE AND/OR THE POLICE CHIEF'S OFFICE,
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Section 143 042 of the Local Government Code authorizes a mumcxpahty to
estabhsh assignment pay wbach ~s ~n an mount payable under conditions set by ordinance, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and Pohce Cbaef have recommended that any Pohce
Department employees assigned duties of a general admlmstratlve nature m the C~ty Manager's
Office and/or the Pohce Cbae£s Office should receive assignment pay of Two Hundred Dollars
($200 00) per month, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION 1 That any Pohce Department employees assigned by the Pohce Chief to
perform duties of a general admamstrattve nature m the City Manager's Office and/or the Police
Chief's Office shall recexve assignment pay of Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00) per month ~n
addition to their regular monthly salary
SECTION 2 The officers assigned to these duties shall continue to report to the Chief of
Pohce
SECTION 3 Any pohce officer assigned admunstratlve duties ~n the C~ty Manager's Office
and/or the Pohce Cluef's Office shall meet the following criteria as emdenced by prior documented
performance appraisals, file notations, and recommendations from the CbaefofPohce
1 The officer shall have a college degree or eqmvalent work-related experience,
2 The officer must have demonstrated an aptitude for working w~th the pubhc, and,
3 The officer must have a willingness to expand bas career into management areas
SECTION 4 That tbas ordinance shall become effective ~mmediately upon ~ts passage and
approval
