Assistant City Manager Resigns to Accept Dallas Position
DENTON, TX,April 25, 2017—Jon Fortune, Assistant City Manager, recently announced his
resignation from the City of Denton to accept the position of Assistant City Manager for the City
of Dallas.
Fortune has more than 25 years of public service experience in managing local government, and
for the past 17 years he has served as the Assistant City Manager for Denton. As Assistant City
Manager, his leadership and oversight has included Public Safety, Finance and Budget,
Development Services, Utility operations, Denton Enterprise Airport, and Economic
Development. Prior to filling his role as Assistant City Manager, Fortune served as the Director
of Management and Budget, Chief Finance Officer, and Management Services Administrator.
"It has been an honor to have served the citizens of Denton for the past 25 years, and the decision
to leave has been difficult. I am so proud to have contributed to the betterment of this
community," said Fortune.
"I am very excited and supportive of this new and exciting career opportunity that has been
presented to Jon and wish him great success in his new role. In addition, I would like to
personally thank Jon for his dedication and service to Denton," said City Manager, Todd
Hileman.
Fortune's last day in Denton is May 29.
