100+ Solar Systems Installed in Denton
DENTON, TX,April 28, 2017—As of this month, over 100 Denton Municipal Electric
customers have installed solar panels on their homes and businesses.
Eighty six of these installations have been on residential rooftops, while sixteen have been on
commercial buildings. Denton Municipal Electric incentivizes solar installations at up to $30,000
through the GreenSense Rebate Program.
The 102 new photovoltaic solar systems have a combined capacity of 632 kW and are expected
to produce approximately 1,137 MWh per year. The average resident uses about 1,300 kWh per
month, which means the systems in place now can offset 100% of the power for approximately
73 homes.
"We are happy to see the increase in rooftop solar," said Phil Williams, General Manager of
Denton Municipal Electric, "We hope the trend continues as we pursue renewable energy for
Denton on an even larger scale."
