AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING A JOINT PUBLIC
HEARING WITH THE PLANNING AND ZON1NG COMMISSION AND THE CITY
COUNCIL TO BE HELD ON DECEMBER 7, 1999 PURSUANT TO TEXAS LOCAL
GOVERNMENT CODE {}211007 (b) AT THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT 6
O'CLOCK PM TO CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION AND ACTION UPON AN
ORDINANCE CREATING INTERIM REGULATIONS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF
THE NEW COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OF THE CITY OF DENTON, PRESCRIBING
NOTICE OF THE JOINT MEETING PURSUANT TO TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT
CODE {}211 007 (d), AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Demon City Council pursuant to its home rule powers and Section 219
of the Texas Local Government Code, has adopted a new Comprehensive Plan, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has prewously appointed a City of Denton Code
Committee to undergo the process of recommending new development regulations that are
conslstant with the policies set forth In the new Comprehensive Plan, and
WHEREAS, ,n order to implement some of the pohc~es contained within the new
Comprehensive Plan, on an ~ntenm basis pending the adoption of new development regulations,
the City Council deems it prudent to consider the adopUon of ~nterlm regulaUons, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Texas Local Government Code §211 007, the City Council
desires to have ajmnt pubhe heanng with the Planning and Zoning Comm~ssion on December 7,
1999 at the City Council Chambers at 6 o'clock p m, regarding the interim regulations, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Texas Local Government Code {}211 007 (d), the City Council
wishes to prescribe notice of the time and place of the joint pubhc hearing in a manner that is
efficient and economical, and
WHEREAS, by a two-thirds vote of the C,ty Councd, as reqmred by Texas Local
Government Code §211 007 (d) the prescribed notice of the joint public hearmg shall be as
hereinafter set forth w~thm thts ordinance, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS HEREBY ORDAINS
~ That the Denton Oty Counctl and the C~ty of Denton Plannmg and Zonmg
Commtsston shall conduct a joint public heanng pursuant to Texas Local Govemment Code
§211 007 (b) on December 7, 1999 at the City Councd Chambers located In Ctty Hall at 215 East
McKtnney Street tn Denton, Texas, at 6 o'clock p m to constder, make recommendation, and
take appropriate actton concerning a proposed ordinance adopting interim regulations
tmplemet~tmg pohctes contatned wtthm the new Comprehensive Plan
SECTION 2 That the notice of the time and place for the joint pubhc hearing on
December 7, 1999 shall be given on two separate occasions as follows
a
Before the 15th day before the public heanng, a notice of the date, time and place
of the public heanng shall be published in the Denton Record-Chromcle m two
separate places, the legal notice section and another location in the newspaper
separate from the legal notice section, and
b
Before the 7th day before the public hearing, a notice of the date, time and place of
the public heanng shall be published m the Denton Record-Chromcle an two
separate places, the legal notice section and another location m the newspaper
separate from the legal not~ee section, and
SECTION 3 The findings contmned in the preamble of thls ordinance are incorporated
herein as if fully set forth with the body of this orchnance
SECTION 4 That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and approval
