I-35 Mobility Improvements Include Temporary Ramp Closure
DENTON,TX,Dec. 8,2017—On Dec. 7, 2017, TxDOT officials announced that the entrance
ramp from southbound US 77 onto southbound Interstate 35E will be closed for up to one year,
beginning Monday. The closure is part of a construction project aimed at adding capacity and
easing congestion along I-35E. Lane closures are expected southbound on I-35 on Sunday and
Monday between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
"When complete, lane capacity at the Loop 288 intersection of I-35E will be doubled," said
Mark Nelson, Director of Transportation for the City of Denton. "The project will also expand I-
35E to three lanes in each direction, add a south to north u-turn at Mayhill Road, and grade
separation at Brinker Road providing additional options for local traffic in the area."
