1998-035AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO UTILIZE PROPERTIES
LOCATED AT 701 AND 705 ROBERTSON STREET IN THE CITY'S AFFORDABLE
HOUSING PROGRAM, AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO FACILITATE THE SALE
OF THESE PROPERTIES UNDER THE CITY'S AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM,
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Collncll of the City of Denton, in the 1994 Combined Statement of
Commumty Development Objectives and Projected Use of Funds and the Home Program
Descnptlun, approved and implemented funding for an Affordable Housmg Program, and
WHEREAS, the Affordable Housang Program approved for implementation by City
Council specified the acqulsatlon of vacant properties for the purpose of new housing
construction, and
WHEREAS, Lot 2, Block A of the Hill Street Addition, City of Denton, Denton County,
Texas ("701 Robertson") and Lot 1, Block A of the Hill Street Addition, City of Denton, Denton
County, Texas ("705 Robertson") having been acquired by the City of Denton under Ordinance
Number 97-147 for the purpose of constructing new housing for sale under the affordable
housing development program, and
WHEREAS, the properties located at 701 Robertson and 705 Robertson, Denton, Texas
are now ready for sale under the Affordable Housing Program, and
WHEREAS, project funding, provided by the Denton County Housing Finance
Corporation can be utilized as a portion of the match required by the Federal Home program, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such a public purpose would be beneficial to the
City of Denton, NOW THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I The City Manager is anthonzed to utilize 701 Robertson and 705
Robertson in the City's Affordable Housing Program and to convey such properties as is
necessary without further City Council action
SECTION II The City Manager is authorized to facilitate the sale of 701 Robertson and
705 Robertson under the City's Affordable Housing Program as is necessary without further City
Council action
SECTION III That th~s ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and approval
