AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING FEES TO BE
CHARGED FOR EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICES AND STANDBY EMERGENCY
AMBULANCE SERVICES IN THE CITY AS PROVIDED FOR IN SEC 27-102 OF
ARTICLE IV OF CHAPTER 27 "VEHICLES FOR HIRE" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES 1N CONFLICT
HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the C~ty of Denton has analyzed and stud~ed its fees for emergency
ambulance serwces, and
WHEREAS, the C~ty of Denton should operate a cost-effective and efficient emergency
medical service, and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton demres to change its Health Care Finance Admmmtratlon
(HCFA) Method from HCFA Method #3 to HCFA Method #4, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
~ That fees are hereby estabhshed for emergency ambulance services m the
Caty provided pursuant to Sec 27-102 of the Code of Ordtnanees as follows
1 A basle transportation fee of two hundred fifty dollars ($250 00) will be charged each patient
who m a r~sadent of the City of Denton transported from the scene of an emergency to a C~ty
of Denton or Denton County hospital In addmon, a fee of three dollars ($3 00) per mile
from the incident location to the rece~vlng hospital will be charged
2 A bame transportation fee of three hundred dollars ($300 00) will be charged each patient
who m a -r~ of the C~ty of Denton transported from the scene of an emergency to a
City of Denton or Denton County hospital In addmon, a fee of three dollars ($3 00) per mile
fxom the me,dent location to the reee~vmg hospatal will be charged
3 Adcht~onal fees, ff meurred, shall be charged as follows
a A fee for each medication and/or d~sposal good admm~stered to each patient which will
be billed based on the current price schedule which will be reviewed, and amended if
necessary, at the begmmng of each budget year
b A $25 00 fee for bandagmg/sphntmg
c A $25 00 fee for eardmc momtonng
d A $30 00 fee for cardlovers~on
e A $50 00 fee for adm~mstenng Card~o Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
f A $30 00 fee for defibnllatmn
g A $30 00 fee for (hagnost~c 12-lead EKG
h A $25 00 fee for patients m excess of 300 pounds
A $10 00 fee for glucometer, blood sugar
A $30 00 fee for pacing, non-mvas~ve
k A $25 00 fee for carrying a patient down struts
1 Fees for additional supphes, medmat~on and/or disposal goods adnunlstered to each
patient will be charged and billed ~n accordance with the schedule of prices and charges
attached to and made a part of tlus ordinance for all purposes as Exhibit "A"
m A non-transport fee of $50 00, in addition to the costs of the medications and supplies,
will be assessed if medication and/or supplies are used and the patient refuses transport or ~s
transported by another emergency transport source
~ That the C~ty shall charge an emergency ambulance standby fee of sixty
e~ght dollars ($68 00) per hour with a four (4) hour m~mmum for the use of any City of Denton
emergency ambulance for standby at special events such as football games, rodeos, concerts, etc
If any pa~ent ~s transported, the other fees an the ordinance shall be charged as incurred
l~Tl.O22LJ~ That a copy of th~s schedule of fees and the annual methcataon and
d~sposal of goods schedule of fees shall be mmntmned on file m the office of the City Secretary
~ That all ordinance or parts of ordinance ~n force when the provlsmns of
this ordinance become effective which are inconsistent or in conflmt with the terms or prowsIons
contmned m th~s ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict
~ That ff any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or
word ~n ttus ordinance, or apphcat~on thereof to any person or c~rcumstance is held ~nvahd by
any court of competent junsdmtaon, such holding shall not affect the vahdlty of the remmnlng
pomons of tlus ordinance, the C~ty Council of the City of Denton hereby declares that they
would have enacted such remaining porttons despite any such mvahdlty
