ORDINANCE NO 9 J2
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS PROHIBITING PARKING ON
THE SOUTH SIDE OF OAK STREET FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH THE WEST
CLTRBLINE OF WILLIAMS STREET AND CONTINUING WEST FOR 100 FEET,
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE,
PROVIDING A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS, AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I When signs or markings are in place glvlng notlce
thereof, no person shall park a vehicle at any t~me upon the
following street ~n the City of Denton
The south s~de of Oak Street beginning at ~ts intersection with
the west curbllne of Williams Street and continuing west for
100 feet
S C IO~ The provisions of Section I prohibiting the
parking of vehicles shall apply at all times to the designated
portion of the above named street or streets except when it is
necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict w~th other traffic or
· n compliance with the d~rectlon of a police officer or official
traffic control device
~III That all provisions of the ordinances of the City
of Denton in conflict with the provisions of th~s ordinance are
hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the ordinances of the
C~ty of Denton, not ~n conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance, shall remain in full force and effect
~ IV That ~f any provision of this ordinance or
application thereof to any person or c~rcumstance ~s held ~nval~d,
such lnvalldlty shall not affect the other provisions or applica-
tions, and to this end the provisions of th~s ordinance are
severable
~ Any person ad]udged guilty of parking a vehicle in
violation of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00)
~ That this ordinance shall become effective
fourteen (14) days from the date of its passage, and the City
Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance
to be published twice zn the Denton-Record Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of the
date of its passage
