AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF
POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICER, PRESCRIBING THE
NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF FIRE FIGHTER, REPEALING
ALL PRIOR INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS TO THE EXTENT OF
ANY SUCH CONFLICT, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Flrefighters' and Police Officers' C~vd Service Commission of the C~ty
of Denton, Texas, upon the recommendation and request of the D~rector of civil Servme, Denton
Police department and the Denton fire Department, adopted and approved the attached schedule
of Authorized Positions which relates to compensation and clasmficanon of pobce officers and
fire fighters, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That the schedule prescribing the number of postt~ons for each
classification of pohce officer and fire fighter ~n the C,ty of Denton, attached hereto and
mcorporated by reference herein as Exhibit A, ts hereby approved
SECTION II That all pmor ordinances or resolutions of the C~ty of Denton Texas, tn
conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of any such conflmt
SECTION III That this ordinance shall become effective ~mmedmtely upon ~ts passage
and approval

97-099 PRESCRIBINO THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF

WHEREAS, on April 1, 1997, the Ctty Council passed Ordtnance No 97-099 to ~mple-
ment the recommendatton of the Ftrefighters' and Pohce Officers' Ctvfl Servtce Commtss~on of
the Ctty of Denton, Texas, upon the recommendatton and request of the Dtrector of Ctwl Serv-
ice, Denton Pohce department and the Denton fire Department, adopting and approving a sched-
ule of Authorized Postt~ons which relates to compensatton and classfficatton of pohce officers
and fire fighters, and
WHEREAS, since the passage of Ordinance No 97-099, the Pohce Department has de-
tenmned that tlus ordinance needs to be amended to more correctly reflect the total number of
Pohce Department postt~ons and to ehm~nate one sergeant posttton and add one heutenant post-
tton, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That Ordinance No 97-099 ts hereby amended by adopttng the schedule
prescribing the number of posmons for each classfficauon of pohce officer and fire fighter tn the
Ctty of Denton, attached hereto and incorporated by reference here~n as Exhthtt A, ts hereby ap-
proved
SECTION II That Ordtnance No 97-099 and all prior ordinances or resoluttons of the
C~ty of Denton, Texas, ~n conflmt herewtth are repealed to the extent of any such conflmt
SECTION III That thts ordtnance shall become effecttve tmmedmtely upon its passage
and approval
