AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY 3,
1997, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I The Clty Council finds and declares that the May 3,
1997, regular municipal election was duly ordered for the purpose
of electing four Councllmembers to Places 1, 2, 3, and 4, that
proper notice of said election was duly given and election of-
flclals appointed, that the election was duly held and the returns
of the election offIcials have been delivered to the Council, all
in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter
and ordinances of the City of Denton
SECTION II The official returns of the election officials
having been opened, examined and canvassed, and the Council hereby
finds and declares that 3,777 ballots were cast at the election,
and that the votes cast for each place on the Council were as
follows
