1997-146AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS REGULATING PARKING OF
VEHICLES EACH YEAR DURING THE NORTH TEXAS STATE FAIR AND RODEO BY
TEMPORARILY PROHIBITING THE PARKING OF VEHICLES ON BOTH SIDES OF
CARROLL BOULEVARD FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH FAIN STREET TO ITS
INTERSECTION WITH HEADLEE STREET, THE WEST SIDE OF DENISON STREET
FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH UNIVERSITY DRIVE TO ITS INTERSECTION
WITH SHERMAN DRIVE, THE EAST SIDE OF DENISON STREET FROM ITS
INTERSECTION WITH SHERMAN DRIVE TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH HEADLEE
STREET, THE WEST SIDE OF BOLIVAR STREET FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH
SHERMAN DRIVE TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH FAIN STREET, THE SOUTH SIDE
OF ROSS STREET FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH CARROLL BOULEVARD TO ITS
INTERSECTION WITH BOLIVAR STREET, THE NORTH SIDE OF STRATA DRIVE
FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH CARROLL BOULEVARD TO ITS INTERSECTION
WITH MESQUITE STREET, AND THE NORTH SIDE OF FAIN STREET FROM ITS
INTERSECTION WITH CARROLL BOULEVARD TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH
BOLIVAR STREET, PROVIDING A SEVER3%BILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING FOR
PUBLICATION THEREOF, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED TWO
HUNDRED DOLLARS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That from the opening day of the North Texas State
Fair and Rodeo until the closing day, when s~gns are erected giving
not~ce thereof, parking shall be prohibited upon the following
streets or portions thereof, ~n the C~ty of Denton to-wit
Both sides of Carroll Boulevard from ~ts ~ntersect~on with Fa~n
Street to its intersection with Headlee Street,
The west slde of Denlson Street from its intersection w~th
University Dr~ve to its ~ntersectlon with Sherman Drive,
The east side of Denlson Street from ~ts ~ntersect~on w~th
Sherman Drive to its intersection w~th Headlee Street,
The west side of Bolivar Street from ~ts intersection with
Sherman Drive to ~ts ~ntersectlon with Fa~n Street,
The south side of Ross Street from ~ts intersection with
Carroll Boulevard to its intersection with Bolivar Street,
The north side of Strata Dr~ve from ~ts intersectIon with
Carroll Boulevard to its ~ntersect~on with Mesquite Street, and
The north s~de of Fa~n Street from ~ts intersection w~th
Carroll Boulevard to 1ts ~ntersectlon with Bolivar Street
SECTION II That these no parking regulations shall be
effective each year from the opening day of the North Texas State
Fair and Rodeo until the closing day unless revoked by the C~ty
Councll
SECTION III That if any section, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause, phrase or word an this ordinance, or application
thereof to any person or c~rcumstance Ks held ~nval~d by any court
of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of th~s ordinance, and the City
Council of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have
enacted such remaining portions despite any such Invalidity
SECTION IV Any person who shall violate a provision of this
ordinance, or falls to comply therewith or with any of the
requirements thereof, or of a permit or certificate ~ssued
thereunder, shall be guilty of a mIsdemeanor punishable by a fine
not exceedlng Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00) Each such person
shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day
or portion thereof dur~n~ which any violation of this ordinance ~s
committed, or continued, and upon conv~ct~on of any such violations
such person shall be punished w~thln the l~m~ts above
SECTION V That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen
(14) days from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is
hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice an the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the Clty of Denton, Texas, wlthln ten (10) days of the
date of ~ts passage
