AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF ANAPPLICATION WITH THE U S
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION FOR A
GRANT I/NDER THE URBANIZED AREA FORMULA PROGRAM AUTHORIZED BY TITLE
49, U S C SECTION 5307, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Transportatmon ms authormzed to
award grants for a mass transportation program of projects and
budget, and
WHEREAS, the contract for flnancmal assmstance wmll mmpose
certain oblzgatmons upon the applmcant, the Cmty of Denton,
mncludmng an obl~gatmon to provmde the local share of the pro3ect
costs an the program, and
WHEREAS, the U S Department of Transportatmon requzres, mn
accordance with the provmsmons of Tmtle VI of the Cmvml Rmghts Act
of 1964, as amended, that the applmcant gmve an assurance that mt
wmll comply with Tmtle VI of the Cmvzl Rmghts Act of 1964 and other
Department of Transportation requirements thereunder, and
WHEREAS, mt is the goal of the applicant that mmnormty
busmness enterprises be utzlized to the fullest extent possmble mn
connection with thms project, and that defmn~te procedures shall be
established and admlnmstered to ensure that mlnormty businesses
shall have maxmmum constructmon contracts, supplmes, equmpment
contracts, or consultant and other services, consistent with
applmcable law, NOW, THEREFORE,
TEE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
~ That the C~ty Manager ms authormzed to execute and
fzle an application on behalf of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, wmth
the U,S Department of Transportatmon to amd mn the fmnancmng of
planning, capital and operating assmstance projects pursuant to the
Urbanized Area Formula Program authorized by Tmtle 49, U S C
Sectmon 5307, as amended
~ That the Cmty Manager ms authorized to execute
and file w~th such applmcatmons an assurance or any other documents
requmred by the U S Department of Transportatmon effectuating the
purpose of Title VI of the Cmvll Rights Act of 1964, or as required
or necessary to acqumre the fmnancmng of the projects mndzcated
above
~ That the Cmty Manager or hms desmgnee is
authorized to furnmsh such addmtmonal ~nformatmon as the U S
Department of Transportatmon may requmre mn connectmon wmth the
applmcatmon for the program of projects and the budget

grant agreements and other necessary documents and assurances on
behalf of the City of Denton, Texas with the U S Department of
Transportatlon for aid in the financing of the planning, capital
and operating assistance program of projects and budget
