AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING COMPETITIVE BIDS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR
THE PURCHASE OF MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES OR SERVICES, PROVIDING
FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, the C~ty has sohc~ted, recetved and tabulated competitive Nds for the purchase
of necessary materials, eqmpment, supphes or servmes xn accordance wxth the procedures of STATE
law and Cxty ordinances, and
WHEREAS, the Cxty Manager or a desxgnated employee has rewewed and recommended
that the here~n described Nds are the lowest responmble Nds for the matermls, eqmpment, supphes
or serwces as shown m the "Bxd Proposals" submitted therefore, and
WHEREAS, the C~ty Cotmcfi has prowded m the C~ty Budget for the appropriation of funds
to be used for the purchase of the materials, eqmpment, supphes or serwces approved and accepted
here~n, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That the numbered xtems xn the followxng numbered Nds for materials,
eqmpment, supphes, or services, shown m the "B~d Proposals" attached hereto, are hereby accepted
and approved as being the lowest responsxble Nds for such ~tems

specifications, standards, quantmes and for the specified sums contained ~n the B~d InwtaUons, B~d
Proposals, and related documents
SECTION III That should the Cxty and persons submxttxng approved and accepted items and
of the submxtted Nds wsh to enter ~nto a formal written agreement as a result of the acceptance,
approval, and awarding of the Nds, the C~ty Manager or his desxgnated representatxve is hereby
authorized to execute the written contract which shall be attached hereto, provided that the written
contract ~s m accordance w~th the terms, conditions, specifications, standards, quantxt~es and
specffied sums contmned ~n the B~d Proposal and related documents herren approw.'d and accepted
SECTION IV That by the acceptance and approval of the above nmnbe~ed ~tems of the
submitted b~ds, the C~ty Council hereby authorizes the expenditure of funds therefor m the mount
and ~n accordance w~th the approved b~ds or pursuant to a written contract made pursuant thereto as
authorized hereto
SECTION V That tlus ordinance shall become effective ~mmedmtely upon its passage and
approval

SUMMARY. This bid ~s for the purchase of a trailer mounted, diesel powered, water/trash pump The
pump is capable of pumping 1,600 gallons per minute and capable of handl.lng 3" sol~s It, is in, tended to
pump raw sewage in a lift station apphcation or from manhole to manhole m the event oxplpe~me aamage or
oreaxage
This recjmrement has been bid twice with the same bidder as the only respondent on both occasions
Sohc~tat~ons were mmled to 14 quahfled b~dders and specifications were redrawn to encourage participation
It appears there ~s a very hmlted source of supply for th~s size and configuration pump
