1997-310AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A ONE-YEAR
EXTENSION OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON AND THE
NORTH TEXAS EDUCATION AND TRAINING CO-OP FOR AN ENGLISH AS A SECOND
LANGUAGE PROGRAM, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, on December 17, 1996, the City entered into an agreement v~th the North
Texas Education and Trmmng Co-op for an English as a second language program, and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the public interest to extend said agreement for
another year, through September 30, 1998, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS HEREBY ORDAINS
~ That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a First Amendment
to the 1996-97 Agreement between the City of Denton and the North Texas Education and
Training Co-op to extend the term of smd agreement for one year, through September 30, 1998,
smd First Amendment to be substantially in the form of the First Amendment to the Agreement
which as attached to and made a part of this orchnance for all purposes
~ That the City Manager is authorized to make the expenditures as set forth
in the attached Agreement
~ That thts ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and approval

FIRST AMENDMENT TO 1996-97 AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON AND NORTH
TEXAS EDUCATION AND TRAINING CO-OP
This First Amendment to that certmn 1996-97 Agreement, hereinafter referred to as
"Base Agreement" between the City of Denton, a Texas mummpal corporation, hereinafter
referred to as "City," and the North Texas Education and Trmmng Co-op, a Texas non-profit
corporation, hereinafter referred to as "Contractor"
WHEREAS, the City and Contractor deem it in the public interest to extend the
Agreemem for an additional year, through September 30, 1998,
WITNESSETH
~ That the second "Whereas" clause of the Base Agreement is hereby
amended to read as follows
WHEREAS, City has adopted a budget for such funds and included therein is an
authorized budget for expenchture of funds for an English as a second language program,
and
~ That Section I "Term" of the Base Agreement is hereby amended to read
as follows
Tbas Contract shall commence on or as of October l, 1996, and shall terminate on
September 30, 1998
SECTION III That save and except as amended hereby, all the remaining sections,
paragraphs, sentences, and clauses of the above-mentioned Base Agreement shall remmn in full
force and effect
