1996-044E \WPDOCS\ORD\OWSLEY PRK ORD ' CE NO q &--Oq 9' AN ORDINANCE NAMING CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF DENTON, OWSLEY NEIGHBORHOOD PARK, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the C~ty, in 1994, purchased approximately 0 7 acres of property located on Stella Street, between Avenues G and H, being lots 3, 4, and 5, Owsley Park Addition an Denton, Denton County, Texas and more fully described in the attached Exhibit "A", which ~s made a part of th~s ordinance for all purposes, for use as a public park to serve the Owsley neighborhood, and ~EREAS, a committee composed of Doug Chadwick, Counc~lmember Eul~ne Brock, Pat Gobble, Pat Dorr~ty, and police officer Greg Hedges recommended to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board the name of "Owsley Neighborhood Park" for consideration, and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, at ~ts Nove~er 20, 1995 meeting, approved the recommendation from ~ts committee and recommends to the C~ty Council for ~ts consideration the name of "Owsley Nelghborhood Park", and WHEREAS, the C~ty Council has determined that ~t would be proper and f~tt~ng to name the park Owsley Neighborhood Park, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CO~CIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS ~ECTION I That the public property acquired for public purposes located on Stella Street, between Avenues G and H ~n Denton and more fully described above and ~n the attached Exhibit "A" shall now and hereafter be known and designated as "Owsley Neighborhood Park" SECTION II That the Planning and Zoning Commission of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, ~s hereby authorized and directed to let that public park here~n named Owsley Neighborhood Park be so designated on the official map of the C~ty of Denton, Texas SECTION III That th~s ordinance shall become effective ~mmedlately upon its passage and approval BOB CASTLEBERRY, ~YO~ ~ / ATTEST JENNIFER WALTERS, CItY SECRETARY APP~tOVED AS TO LEGAL FORM HERBERT L PROUTY, CITY ATTORNEY Page 2 EXHIBIT "A" ~I '~AV ~ D 'HAY 0 i HAY _ ~ ~VIlB ~INNOE 1 ~
