JUNE 1, 1996, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING COUNCILMEMBERS TO PLACES
5 AND 6 AND ELECTING A MAYOR TO PLACE 7 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, DESIGNATING VOTING PLACES, APPOINTING
ELECTION OFFICIALS, PROVIDING FOR EARLY VOTING, PROVIDING FOR
BILINGUAL NOTICE OF THE ELECTION, ORDERING THAT THE PUNCH CARD
ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM BE USED, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That a municipal election is ordered to be held ~n
the C~ty of Denton, Texas, on Saturday, May 4, 1996, for the pur-
pose of electing Councllmembers for Places 5 and 6 and electing a
Mayor to Place 7 In the event a runoff ~s required, the runoff
election shall be held on Saturday, June 1, 1996
SECTION II That the polling places, which shall be open from
7 00 a m to 7 00 p m, shall be as follows
1 Voters residing ~n D~str~ct No 1 shall vote at

2 Voters residing an Dlstr~ct No 2 shall vote at

SECTION III That the election officials for the election and
the runoff, zf any, shall be as follows
1 For the Central Counting Station George Spuller, Presiding
Judge, Tim Hodges, Manager, and Randz Smzth, Tabulation Su-
pervisor
2 For D~strzct No 1 Ruby Cole, Presiding Judge and Alma
Clark, Alternate Judge
3 For Dlstrlct No 2 Doris Chlpman, Presiding Judge and Mary
Mecay, Alternate Judge
4 For Dlstrlct No 3 Blll Wlllzamson, PresIding Judge and
Eun~ce Curry, Alternate Judge

6 Jennzfer Walters, Czty Secretary, shall conduct early
votlng under the Texas Electzon Code
7 George Spuller shall be Preszdlng Judge for the Early
Ballot Board
The presiding judge of the Central Counting Station and of each
district are authorized to appolnt a sufficient number of clerks as
necessary to asszst them in the electlon, lncludzng bilingual as-
sistants as required by law The rate of pay for election judges
and clerks shall be the maximum amount provided for by State law
SECTION IV That early voting shall be conducted for the
elect~on, and the runoff electzon zf necessary, by the Office of
the Clty Secretary ~n the Munzczpal Buzldlng at 215 East McKlnney
Street in the City of Denton, Texas The polls for early votzng by
personal appearance shall be open between the hours of 8 00 a m
and 5 00 p m Monday through Friday, commencing Aprzl 15, 1996, and
endzng on April 30, 1996 In addition, early votzng shall be held
on Saturday, April 20, 1996, or Saturday, April 27, 1996, between
the hours of 10 00 a m and 3 00 p m , at the same location as
weekday early voting Specific date to be determined by the Early
Votzng Clerk
SECTION V That the Mayor zs hereby directed to provlde notice
of the electlon, and the runoff elect~on zf necessary, ~n accor-
dance with Sectzons 4 002 and 4 003 of Texas Election Code, the
not~ce to be prznted zn the Spanish language and the English
language
SECTION VI That City Secretary is authorized to prepare the
offzclal ballot for the election and perform every act required by
the Charter and laws of the State of Texas for holding elect~ons
SECTION VII That an electronic voting system, meeting the
requirements of Chapter 124 of the Texas Elect~on Code shall be
used for sazd elect~on
SECTION VIII That th~s ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and approval
