AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON AND UNITED WAY OF DENTON
COUNTY, INC., DATED DECEMBER 7, 1993 AND AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON AND UNITED WAY OF DENTON
COUNTY, INC., DATED NOVEMBER 15, 1994 TO ALLOW FOR ADDITIONAL TIME
FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best
interest of the citizens of the City to extend the terms of the
Agreement Between The City Of Denton And United Way Of Denton
County, Inc. dated December 7, 1993 and the Agreement Between The
City Of Denton And United Way Of Denton County, Inc. dated November
15, 1994 (collectively referred to herein as "Agreements") in order
to allow time for the expenditure of funds for United Way's Rainbow
Connection Program; and
WHEREAS, Amendment No. 1 to Agreement Between The City Of
Denton And United Way Of Denton County, Inc. dated December 7, 1993
and Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement Between The City Of Denton And
United Way Of Denton County, Inc. dated November 15, 1994 extend
the terms of the Agreements to allow additional time to expend
funds for United Way's Rainbow Connection Program; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Mayor is authorized to execute Amendment
No. 1 To Agreement Between The City Of Denton And United Way Of
Denton County, Inc. dated December 7, 1993 and Amendment No. 1 To
Agreement Between The City Of Denton And United Way Of Denton
County, Inc. dated November 15, 1994, copies of which are attached
hereto.
SECTION II. That this ordinance shall become effective immed-
iately upon its passage and approval.

AMENDMENT NO. i TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF DENTON AND UNITED WAY OF
DENTON COUNTY, INC., DATED DECEMBER 7, 1993
WHEREAS, on December 7, 1993, the CITY of DENTON, DENTON COUNTY
TEXAS, hereinafter called "CITY", and the UNITED WAY OF DENTON
COUNTY, INC., hereinafter called "CONTRACTOR", entered into an
Agreement Between the City of Denton and United Way of Denton
County, Inc. for the expenditure of funds for United Way's Rainbow
Connection Program, hereinafter called "Agreement"; and
WHEREAS, CONTRACTOR was unable to expend the funds set forth in
the Agreement within the time set forth in the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, CITY and CONTRACTOR desire to extend the term of the
Agreement to allow CONTRACTOR additional time for expenditure of
funds; NOW, THEREFORE,
WI TNES SETH:
ARTICLE I.
That Section I. TERM of the Agreement which states:
This Agreement shall commence on or as of October 1, 1993,
and shall terminate on September 30, 1994, unless extended
by the CITY. Requests for extension must be in writing and
are to be submitted to the Community Development Office on
or before the Agreement termination date.
is hereby and herewith deleted from the Agreement and replaced with
the following:
This Agreement shall commence on or as of October 1, 1993,
and shall terminate on June 30, 1995, unless extended by
the CITY. Requests for extension must be in writing and
are to be submitted to the Community Development Office on
or before the Agreement termination date.
ARTICLE II.
Except as specifically amended herein, the terms and conditions
of the Agreement, as executed by the parties on the 7th day of
December, 1993 shall remain in full force and effect.
ARTICLE III.
This Amendment shall become effective September 30, 1994.
