1995-114E:\WPDOCS\ORD\RUNOFF.ORD ORDINANCE NO. ~ AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE RUNOFF MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON JUNE 3, 1995. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION I. The City Council finds and declares that the June 3,1995 runoff municipal election was duly ordered for the purpose of electing one Councilperson to Place 1; that proper notice of said election was duly given and election officials appointed; that said election was duly held and the returns of the election officials have been delivered to the Council, all in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of the City of Denton. SECTION II. The official returns of the election officials having been opened, examined and canvassed, the Council hereby finds and declares that 582 ballots were cast at said election, and that the votes cast for each place on the Council were as follows: EARLY VOTING: FOR PLACE 1: Mark R. Chew 100 votes Carl Gene Young, Sr. 220 votes REGULAR VOTING: FOR PLACE t: Mark R. Chew 145 votes Carl Gene Young, Sr. 90 votes TOTAL VOTES CAST: Mark R. Chew 245 votes Carl Gene Young, Sr. 310 votes SECTION III. The Council finds and declares that the candidate listed below received a majority of the votes cast for Place 1 on the Council and that the candidate listed below is hereby declared to be elected to the City Council of the City of Denton: FOR PLACE 1: Carl Gene Young, Sr. and such candidate shall assume the duties of his office on the date that he takes the official oath of office.
