AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, WHICH PROHIBITS THE
PARKING OF VEHICLES ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF LOCUST STREET BETWEEN
THE HOURS OF 8:00 a.m. THROUGH 6:00 p.m. MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY;
PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS
($200.00); PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. When signs are erected giving notice thereof, no
person shall park a vehicle between the hours of 8:00 a.m. through
6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, upon the following portions of the
following streets in the City of Denton, to-wit:
The east side of Locust Street between Oakland Street and
University Drive.
SECTION II. That an individual adjudged guilty of any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).
SECTION III. That if any section, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application
thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid by any court
of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City
Council of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have
enacted such remaining portions despite any such invalidity.
SECTION IV. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
force when the provisions of this ordinance become effective which
are inconsistent or in conflict with the terms or provisions
contained in this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of
any such conflict.
SECTION V. That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen
(14) days from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is
hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of the
date of its passage.
