1993-084ORDINANCE NO. 9,q " OSS AN ORDINANCE ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. R92-028; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN AND SUBMIT AN AMENDMENT TO THE 1990 FINAL STATEMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES AND PROJECTED USE OF FUNDS SUBMITTED JUNE 22, 1990 TO THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT WITH APPROPRIATE CERTIFICATIONS, AS AUTHORIZED AND REQUIRED BY THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1974, AS AMENDED; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Denton is concerned with the development of viable urban communities, including decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanded economic opportunities; WHEREAS, the City of Denton has a special concern for persons of low and moderate income; WHEREAS, the City of Denton, as an entitlement city, has pre- pared, through a citizen participation process, a program for uti- lizing its 1990 entitlement funds in the approximate amount of $559,134.00; and WHEREAS, the City of Denton now desires to reallocate an ap- proximate amount of $100,000 of the funds previously allocated to the Urban Homesteading program to the rehabilitation of the Craw- ford Building, 306 S. Locust Street, for use as low income elderly housing; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION I. That the City Council of the City of Denton autho- rizes the City Manager to submit to the Department of Housing and Urban Development an amendment for the reallocation of funds in the 1990 Final Statement that was previously submitted for a grant ap- plication with appropriate assurance for entitlement funds under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, to provide $100,000 for the rehabilitation of the Crawford Building, 306 S. Locust, for use as low income elderly housing. SECTION II. That the city council had previously authorized reallocation of $25,000 in funds to be utilized for rehabilitation of the Crawford Building in Resolution No. R92-028 and that reso- lution is hereby repealed and replaced with the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION III. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager or his designee to handle all fiscal and administrative matters related to the amended final statement. SECTION IV. That this ordinance shall become effective im- mediately upon its passage and approval.
