SPECIAL CALLED OPEN MEETING: 2017 Tour of City Parks
After determining that a quorum of the City of Denton, Texas, Parks, Recreation and
Beautification Board is present, the Chair of the Board thereafter convened into an open meeting
on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. at the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney Street,
Denton, Texas.
Members Present: Russ Stukel, Kent Boring, Gary Barber, Frances Punch, Johanna McDaniel
Members Absent: Maria Renner, Paul Leslie
Staff present: Emerson Vorel, D'Lee Williams, Julie Leal, John Schubert; Sarah Kuechler,
Assistant to the City Manager
Guests: Park Foundation attendees: Marc Culp,Molly Tampke,Jennifer Collins, Stuart Birdseye,
Cameron Cox, Hutch Ice, Linnie McAdams, Chrissy Mallouf, Bettye Myers, Shelly Renfro,
Simone Royster& daughter, Tim Smith, Staci Wallace
1. CALL TO ORDER: Tour of Parks commenced at 5:00 p.m.
2. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE PARKS, RECREATION AND
BEAUTIFICATION BOARD MINUTES FOR:
None
3. AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS:
None
4. SPECIAL ITEM:
A. The Tour of Parks will begin and end at the Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney,
Denton, Texas, ftom 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and include a tour of the following
properties:
1. Industrial Street Park
2. Carl Young Sr. Park Splash Pad
3. Mack Park
4. Milam Park
5. Water Works Park
6. Northwest Denton Trail Loop
7. Vela Athletic Complex
8. Future North Lakes Dog Park
9. Future Tennis Center site
10. Rayzor Ranch
11. McKenna Park
5. ACTION ITEMS: Consider making a recommendation to the Denton City Council
on the following items:
None
6. DISCUSSION ITEMS: Consider the following items which may be moved to action
items at the next meeting:
None
7. OTHER BUSINESS:
None
With no action/discussion items pending Park Board consideration, and following the completion
of the Tour of Parks, the meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
