AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AMENDING APPENDIX A-5 OF
THE DENTON DEVELOPMENT CODE TO PROVIDE FOR NEW PARKING LOT SURFACE
REQUIREMENTS; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY IN THE AMOUNT OF $500.00 FOR
VIOLATIONS THEREOF; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Appendix A-5 "Parking Lot Surface (Minimum
Requirements)" of the Denton Development Code is amended by the
adoption of a new Appendix A-5, as attached hereto.
SECTION II. That any person violating any provision of this
ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined a sum not exceeding
$500.00. Each day that a provision of this ordinance is violated
shall constitute a separate and distinct offense.
SECTION III. That this ordinance shall become effective
fourteen days(14) days from the date of its passage, and the City
Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance
to be published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of the
date of its passage.

IN LIEU OF THE ABOVE SPECIFICATIONS, A PARKING LOT MAY BE CONSTRUCTED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE DESIGN MADE BY AN ENGINEER REGISTERED BY THE STATE OF TEXAS
AND SUBMITTED TO THE CITY FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL.
Construction materials and methods shall conform to North Texas Council of
Governments standard specifications and City of Denton addendums to the
NTCOG specifications.
Slump for concrete shall be between 2 inches and 8 inches allowable range.
Key to temperature available at Engineering office.
Leveling sand when used under parking lot pavement may act as a conduit for
water and therefore is not recommended.
* Concrete sections are to be reinforced with 3/8 inch bars spaced 24 inches
on center each way or 6 x 6 #6 gauge welded wire fabric. An approved
paving fiber may be substituted for the reinforcing steel. Chairs shall be
used to support reinforcement.
When pavers are used, the subgrade and materials shall be according to
Appendix A-5 - Parking Lot Surface (minimum requirements for pavers). A
list of approved materials and suppliers can be obtained from the
Department of Public Works.
