AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
THE RUNOFF MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY
19, 1990.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. The City Council finds and declares that the May
19, 1990 regular municipal election was duly ordered for the pur-
pose of electing one Councilperson to Place 6; that proper notice
of said election was duly given and election officials appointed;
that said election was duly held and the returns of the election
officials have been delivered to the Council, all in accordance
with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances
of the City of Denton.
SECTION II. The official returns of the election officials
having been opened, examined and canvassed, the Council hereby
finds and declares that 1,363 votes were cast at said election,
and that the votes cast for each place on the Council were as
follows:
ABSENTEE VOTING:
FOR PLACE 6:
Greg Muirhead 187 votes
John Trent 171 votes
TOTAL VOTES CAST:
FOR PLACE 6:
Greg Muirhead 674 votes
John Trent 689 votes
SECTION III. The Council finds and declares that the candi-
date listed below received a majority of the votes cast for Place
6 on the Council and that the candidate listed below is hereby
declared to be elected to the City Council of the City of Denton:
FOR PLACE 6: John Trent
and such candidate shall assume the duties of his office on the
date that he takes the official oath of office.
