1988-1712493L NO 22-/ 7/ AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AND ESTABLISHING SPEED ZONES FOR NORTH AND SOUTH BOUND TRAFFIC ON SHERMAN DRIVE FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH BELL AVENUE TO THE NORTH CITY LIMITS, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200 00), PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I Based upon an engineering and traffic investiga- tion hereto Tore made as authorized by the provisions of Section 169, Article 6701d, V T C S , the following prima facie speed limits for Sherman Drive are hereby determined and declared to be prima facie reasonable and safe, and such speed limits are hereby fixed for vehicles traveling upon the following named streets, or parts thereof Location Extent Speed Limit 30 MPH A On Sherman From its intersection with Bell Drive Avenue to its intersection with Lynwood Drive B On Sherman From its intersection with Lynwood Drive Drive to its intersection with Buckingham Drive C On Sherman From its intersection with Bucking- Drive ham Drive to a point 500 feet north- west of Loop 288 east frontage road D On Sherman From a point 500 feet northwest of Drive Loop 288 east frontage road to the northern city limits 3.5 MPH 45 MPH 1) SMPH SECTION II Based upon an engineering and traffic investiga- tion ereto ore made as authorized by the provisions of Section 169, Article 6701d, V T C S , the prima facie speed limits for Sherman Drive as set forth above in Section I are hereby deter- mined to be prima facie reasonable and safe, and such speed limits are hereby fixed for vehicles travelling upon such street SECTION III That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, c ause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such invalidity SECTION IV That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen ays from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of the City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of its passage PASSED AND APPROVED this the /day of , 1988 RAY STE IHI S, M OR ATTEST J I^ E TERS, C I Y SECRET I2Y AL I APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORM DEBRA ADAMI DRAYOVITCH, CITY ATTORNEY BY a LOW 2" YIL~LAM \ d .4y NYAM ~r , i . sIGNAL ~ U i E S~sey rA~ \ N`~4 \l F, A AA
