1988-0952341L NO AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE I OF CHAPTER 17 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS ("PLUMBING CODE") BY AMENDING SECTION 17-2 (a)(16) OF CHAPTER 17, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000 00, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I That Section 17-2 (a) (16) of Article I of Chapter 17 o the Re of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows (16) Amend Section 1004 (a) to read Water pipe and fittings shall be of brass, copper, cast iron, galvanized malleable iron, galvanized wrought iron or galvanized steel Schedule 40 PVC and AWWA C 900 piping having the National Sanitation Foundation seal followed by the letters PW may be used for cold water distribution systems outside of buildings All materials used in the water supply system, except valves and similar devices, shall be of a like material, except where otherwise approved by the administrative authority Any pipe, fitting, solder or flux which is used in the installation or repair of any plumbing in a residential or nonresidential facility providing water for human consumption which is connected to a public water system shall be lead free The term "lead free" when used with respect to solders and flux refers to solders and flux containing not more than 0 2 percent lead When used with respect to pipes and pipe fittings, "lead free" refers to pipes and pipe fittings containing not more than 8 0 percent of lead This paragraph shall not apply to leaded joints necessary for the repair of cast iron pipes SECTION II All ordinances or parts of ordinances in force when the provisions of this ordinance become effective which are inconsistent or in conflict with the terms or provisions contained in this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict SECTION III Any person who shall violate a provision of this ordinance, or fails to comply therewith or with any of the requirements thereof, or of a permit or certificate issued thereunder, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not exceeding Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000 00) Each such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any violation of this ordinance is committed, or continued, and upon conviction of any such violations such person shall be punished within the limits above SECTION IV That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen ays from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of the City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of its passage PASSED AND APPROVED this the /day of , 1988 Y ST rNS) YOR ATTEST 011NMYNALTERS, CITY SECRETARY APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORM DEBRA ADAMI DRAYOVITCH, CITY ATTORNEY BY g if d 2!1 Ah--
