The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality(TCEQ) requires the City to notify the public and all appropriate government officials of overflows that exceed 100,000 gallons in a single drainage basin. This overflow was measured at 720,750 gallons. Staff from the City's Watershed division have sampled the stream upstream and downstream of the discharge, and have noted no impacts. General Manager Dr. Kenneth Banks stressed that none of the overflows of diluted wastewater appear to have affected the stream or Lake Lewisville. However, staff are adding oxygen to the stream as a precautionary measure to ensure protection of Hickory Creek.
