AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A SUPPLEMENT TO THE
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON AND THE TEXAS POLITICAL SUB-
DIVISIONS WORKERS' COMPENSATION JOINT INSURANCE FUND, PROVIDING
FOR COVERAGE FOR VOLUNTEERS, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF
FUNDS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That pursuant to art 8309h, V A C S , the elected
official-~f-the City shall be eligible for worker's compensation
benefits in accordance with state law
SECTION II That the Mayor is authorized to execute a supple-
ment to tFie agreement between the City of Denton and the Texas
Political Subdivisions Workers' Compensation Joint Insurance Fund
for the purpose of providing the benefits prescribed by art
8309h of the Texas Workers' Compensation Act to volunteers, under
the terms and conditions contained in said agreement which is
attached hereto and made a part hereof
SECTION III That the City Council hereby authorizes the
expenditure of funds in the manner and amount as specified in the
agreement
SECTION IV That this ordinance shall become effective

SUPPLEMENT TO INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT
TEXAS POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS WORKERS' COMPENSATION
JOINT INSURANCE FUND
In consideration of the Fund Members' request for payment of
additional benefits and in further consideration of the Fund's agreement
to pay such benefits, the Interlocal Agreement is amended by adding
thereto the following applicable coverages
Volunteers - Firemen, Policemen and Emergency Medical Personnel -
If any person within these groups of employees hereinafter described and
for which a payroll classification is checked below, shall sustain
injury, including death resulting therefrom, while acting within the
course and scope of their official volunteer duties, the Fund will pay
on behalf of the Fund Member the full medical benefits and the minimum
compensation payments provided under the Texas Workers' Compensation
Law
Other Volunteers - Inside and Outside - If the Fund Member specifi-
cally names volunteers other than those in catagories set out above,
registers such names with the Fund, and a payroll classification is
checked below for these groups of employees hereinafter described, the
Fund will pay on behalf of the Fund Member the full medical benefits and
the minimum compensation payments provided under the Texas Workers'
Compensation law for injury, including death resulting therefrom,
sustained by such persons while acting within the course and scope of
their official volunteer duties.
Elected Officials - If a resolution of the governing body has been
adopted providing coverage for elected officials as required by law, and
a payroll classification is checked below, such elected officials while
acting within the course and scope of their official duties, shall be
covered by the Interlocal Agreement as any other employee of the political
subdivision.
The Fund Member agrees to pay premium for the payroll classifications
checked below

"OTHER VOLUNTEERS"
I Calculation of Premium
A Use $5,200 annual payroll per volunteer (or $433
monthly)
B Use the following high-low classification codes
1) All inside volunteers - Code 8742 (Messengers,
Social Workers, Elected Officials) To qualify,
the volunteer's activities must take place
exclusively indoors
2) All outside volunteers - Code 3724 (Traffic Signals
and Controls) Any routine activities of the
volunteer taking place outdoors would require usage
of this code
II Prior to effect of coverage
A TPS WC Member will furnish TPS Fund a written
description of the duties and activities of volunteers
to be covered (see suggested form)
B TPS WC Member will furnish TPS Fund a complete listing
of the names of the volunteers to be covered if known
(see suggested form)
C TPS WC Member will furnish TPS Fund an executed copy of
the "Supplement to the Interlocal Agreement" where the
group of volunteers to be covered will be named and the
effective date recorded
III To effect coverage and premium charge
A Premium worksheet will be revised to reflect additional
payroll in proper class code according to the number
and type of volunteers for which the Member is
requesting coverage
B Billing statement will be revised to reflect premium
change
C Upon receipt of copy of "Supplement", TEIA will notify
field claims personnel of new coverage in effect

IV After coverage is in effect
A TPS WC Member will keep updated listing of names of
volunteers along with dates they become volunteers or
ceased volunteer work An updated listing will be sent
to TPS Fund Office Quarterly
B TEIA will audit at year end the volunteer comp payrolls
based on the updated listing maintained by the TPS WC
