City of Denton Announces Finalists for Fire Chief
Interviews Scheduled for March 20-21
DENTON, TX, March 14, 2018—City Manager Todd Hileman announces the following six
finalists for the position of Fire Chief:
Joseph Cardello, Deputy Fire Chief, Prince George's County Fire and Emergency Medical
Services Department, MD
Brian Dunn, Fire Chief, City of San Angelo, TX
Kenneth Hedges, Assistant Fire Chief, City of Denton, TX
Brad Lahart, Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal, City of Denton, TX
Terry McGrath, Assistant Fire Chief, City of Lewisville, TX
James Self, Assistant Fire Chief, City of Arlington, TX
"I am impressed with the quality and leadership experience of the candidates for the
Fire Chief position," said Hileman. "Each finalist offers unique experiences which make them
ideal candidates to lead the Fire Department forward."
The City of Denton started the selection process in January by working with executive
recruitment firm GovHR to launch a nationwide search for candidates. A total of I I I applicants
responded. The City Manager worked with GovHR and selected finalists based on candidate
applications, resumes, and supplemental materials. The City will conduct interviews on March
20 and 21, which will include a series of meetings and a tour of the community. The City
Manager expects to make a decision regarding the new Fire Chief by the end of the month.
