AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO
87-113, PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE SPECIFIC USE PERMIT
FOR S 4 ACRES OF LAND LOCATED AT 4000 WEST UNIVERSITY DRIVE TO
ALLOW OVERNIGHT CAMPING, PROVIDING FOR A MAXIMUM PENALTY IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,000 00 FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF, AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, on June 23, 1987, the City Councal approved
Ordinance No 87-113, granting a speclfac use permat for a Girl
Scout Councal efface/headquarters and actlvlty/traan~ng center on
5 4 acres of land located at 4000 West Unaversaty Dr~ve, and,
WHEREAS, the permit was granted upon the condataon that no
overnight camping would be permatted upon the property, and,
WHEREAS, the Cross T~mbers Girl Scout Council has requested
an amendment to the permit to allow overnaght campang, NOW
THEREFORE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That Section II of Ordinance No 87-113 as
amended to read as £ollows
SECTION II That the property shall be used and
maantalned an accordance with the site plan shown an
Exhibit "A", attached hereto and ancorporated herein by
reference, and shall be subject to the followang
conditions
1 That the SlX (6) foot wood fence along the
northern and western property l~nes be repaared
to form a sol~d screening fence
2 No more than thirty (30) campers w~ll occupy the
s~te at one time
3 Camping activities are restricted to the
northwest corner o£ the property
4 Camping actavat~es wall not occur on more than
three consecutave evenangs
SECTION II That a copy of this ordinance shall be attached
to Ordinance No 87-113, show~ng the amendment here~n made
SECTION III That if any section, subsection, paragraph,
sentence~ clause, phrase or word in th~s ordinance, or
application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
~nval~d by any court of competent jurisdiction, such holding
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this
ordinance, and the C~ty Council of the City of Denton, Texas,
hereby declares ~t would have enacted such remaining portions
despite any such invalidity
SECTION IV Any person who shall v~olate a provision of
th~s ordinance, or fails to comply therewith or w~th any of the
requirements thereof, or of a permit or certificate issued
thereunder, shall be guilty of a m~sdemeanor punishable by a
f~ne not exceeding Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000 00) Each such
person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and
every day or portion thereof during which any v~olat~on of this
ordinance is committed, or continued, and upon conviction of any
such violations such person shall be punished within the l~mlts
above
SECTION V That th~s ordinance shall become effective
fourteen (14) days from the date of ~ts passage, and the City
Secretary ~s hereby directed to cause the caption of this
ordinance to be published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle,
the official newspaper of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, w~th~n ten
(10) days of the date of its passage
