AN ORDINANCE CALLING AND ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE
CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, ON APRIL 4, 1987, AND, IN THE EVENT A
RUNOFF ELECTION IS REQUIRED, ON APRIL 25, 1987, FOR THE PURPOSE
OF ELECTING FOUR COUNCILPERSONS TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DENTON, TEXAS FOR PLACES 1, 2, 3, AND 4, ORDERING THAT THE
PUNCH CARD ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM ADOPTED BY DENTON COUNTY BE
USED IN SAID ELECTION, DESIGNATING VOTING PLACES AND APPOINTING
ELECTION OFFICIALS AND PROVIDING FOR ELECTION SUPPLIES
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Pursuant to the terms and provisions of Section 5 01 of the
Charter of the City of Denton, Texas, a municipal election is
hereby ordered to be held in the City of Denton, Texas on the
4th day of April, 1987, for the purpose of electing four (4)
councllpersons to the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas,
as follows
Place 1 - Councllperson to be elected for a two (2) year term by
the qualified voters of Single Member District No 1
of the City of Denton, Texas Candidates for Place
No 1 must reside in Single Member District No 1
Place 2 Councllperson to be elected for a two (2) year term by
the qualified voters of Single Member District No 2
of the City of Denton, Texas Candidates for Place
No 2 must reside in Single Member District No 2
Place 5 - Councllperson to be elected for a two (2) year term by
the qualified voters of S~ngle Member District No 5
of the City of Denton, Texas Candidates for Place 5
must reside in Single Member Dlstrlct No 3

SECTION II
The polls for said election on April 4, 1987 and, in the
event a runnof£ election is required, on April 25, 1987, shall

SECTION III
The election officials for said election on April 4, 1987,
and in the event a runoff election ~s required, on April 25,
1987, shall be as follows
I (a) R L Speer shall be the Presiding Judge at the Central
Counting Station
(b) Joann 6arbaczk shall be the Manager of the Central
Counting Station
(c) Randle Smith shall be the Tabulation Supervisor at the
Central Counting Station
2 LovIe Price shall be the Presiding Judge at the American
Legion Hall In Single Member District No 1

Dorothy Alderdlce shall be the Presiding Judge at the F~re
Station No 4 ~n S~ngle Member D~strlct No 2
Dorothy Van Dyke shall be the Presiding Judge at the North
Lakes Recreation Center ~n S~ngle Member D~str~ct No 3
Rosca Toulouse shall be the Presiding Judge at Den~a Park
Recreation Center ~n S~ngle Member D~str~ct No 4
Jenn~£er Walters, Acting C~ty Secretary shall conduct
absentee voting under the Texas Elect~on Code
The respective Presiding Judge of each voting Place and the
Central Counting Station shall be authorized to appoint a
sufficient number of Clerks as they may deem necessary to assist
them ~n sa~d elect~on, ~ncludlng b~l~ngual assistants as
required by law
SECTION IV
Absentee voting shall be conducted for the election to be
held on Aprzl 4, 1987 and, in the event of a runoff for the
election, April 25, 1987, by the O£f~ce of the City Secretary ~n
the Municipal Building on East McK~nney Street xn the C~ty of
Denton, Texas, and the polls for absentee voting shall be open
for voting ~n person between the hour of 8 00 A M and 5 00 P M
Monday through Friday during the t~mes allowed for absentee
voting
SECTION V
The C~ty Secretary ~s hereby authorized to prepare the
official ballot for said elect~on and perform each and every act
required by the Charter and laws of the State of Texas for
holding elect~ons
SECTION VI
The rate of pay for

It ~s further ordered that the punch card electronxc voting
system adopted by Denton County be used ~n saxd election in
accordance with the term and prows~ons of Artxcle 7 1S of the
Texas Election Code The punch card electronic voting system
shall be used for absentee voting ~n person and by mall
