AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4-32, ARTICLE I OF CHAPTER 4,
"ANIMALS" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS
RELATING TO THE RETURN OF ADOPTED DOGS AND CATS, PROVIDING FOR A
PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200 00 FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF, AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That Section 4-32, Article I of Chapter 4 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas is hereby amended to
read as follows
Section 4-32 Adoption of Dogs and Cats
(5) Any person hawng possession or responsxble for an
adopted dog or cat from the Antmal Control Center
shall tmmedtately notxfy the Center t£ such animal
escapes, or becomes or appears to be sick, or dies
before the antmal has been vacctnated against
rabtes and dtstemper and spayed, neutered or
otherwtse permanently sterilized
SECTION II
That any person vlolattng any of the provtstons of thts
ordxnance shall, upon conviction, be ftned a sum not exceeding
Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00), and each day and every day that
the provtstons of this ordtnance are violated shall constttute a
separate and dtstlnct offense Thts penalty ts ~n addxtton to
and cumulattve of, any other remedies as may be avatlable at law
and equity
SECTION III
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of Its passage, and the Ctty Secretary ts
hereby directed to cause the captton of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record-Chrontcle, the official
newspaper of the Ctty of Denton, Texas, wtthtn ten (10) days of
the date of Its passage
