DENTON, TX, May 10, 2018—Denton Municipal Electric (DME)was recently awarded with
the platinum Reliable Public Power Provider(RP3) designation from the American Public Power
Association(APPA). The RP3 designation is given to public power providers that have shown
leadership in electric reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. Prior
to 2018, DME held the gold level RP3 designation.
"We are proud to achieve the platinum RP3 designation," said George Morrow, General Manager
of DME. "Safety and reliability are essential in providing the city of Denton exceptional electric
service. This recognition demonstrates DME's commitment to minimizing outages and injuries."
The RP3 designation, awarded by APPA, recognizes utilities that demonstrate high proficiency in
a variety of areas related to reliability and that follow recognized industry-leading practices. To
achieve an RP3 designation, utilities must complete a rigorous application that is reviewed by an
18-member panel of national public power experts. DME has been recognized as an RP3 utility
since 2009.
