AN URDINANCE CALLING AND ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE
CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, ON APRIL 5, 1986, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ELECTING COUNCILMEMBERS TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DENTON, TEXAS TO PLACES 5, 6, AND 7, CALLING AND ORDERING A
SPECIAL ELECTION FOR FILLING A VACANCY IN PLACE 4, ORDERING THAT
THE. PUNCH CARD ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM ADOPTED BY DENTON COUNTY
BE USED IN SAID ELECTION, DESIGNATING VOTING PLACES AND
APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS AND PROVIDING FOR ELECTION
SUPPLIES
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Pursuant to the terms and provisions of Section 3 01 of the
Charter of the City of Denton, Texas, a municipal election is
hereby ordered to be held in the City of Denton, Texas on the
5th day of April, 1986, for the purpose of electing the Mayor to
Place 7 and Councilmembers to Places 4, 5 and 6,
In the event a runoff is required, such election shall be
held on Saturday, the 26th day of April, 1986
SECTION II
The polls for said election on April 5, 1986, and in the
event a runoff election is required, on April 26, 1986, shall be
open from 7 00 A M to 7 00 P M , and the election voting places
or polling places shall be as follows
1 All qualified voters residing in Single Member District
No 1 shall vote at

2 All qualified voters residing in Single Member District

SECTION III
The election officials for said election on April 5, 1986,
and for April 26th, should a runoff be required, shall be as
follows
1 (a) Jo Luker shall be the Presiding

(b) Joann Garbacik shall be the Manager of the

(c) Maril n Robinson shall be the Tabulation
Superv sor at t e entra Counting Station
2 Bill Luker shall be the Presiding Judge
at the American Legion Hall in Single Member District No
1
J Doris Chi man shall be the Presiding Judge
at the Fire Stat on No in Single Member District No 2
4 Bob Speer shall be the Presiding Judge
at the North Lakes Recreation Center in Single Member
District No 3
5 Thelma Escue shall be the Presiding Judge
at Denia Park Recreat on Center in Single Member District
No 4
6 Charlotte Allen, City Secretary shall conduct absentee
voting under the Texas Election Code
Tae respective Presiding Judge of each voting Place and the
Central Counting Station shall be authorized to appoint a
sufficient number of Clerks as they may deem necessary to assist
them in said election, including bilingual assistants as
required by law
SECTION IV
Absentee voting shall be conducted for the election to be
held on April 5, 1985 and, in the event of a runoff for the
election, April 26, 1986, by the Office of the City Secretary in
the municipal building on East McKinney Street in the City of
Denton, Texas, and the polls for absentee voting shall be open
for voting in person between the hour of 8 00 A M and 5 00 P M
Monday through Friday during the times allowed for absentee
voting

SECCION I
De acuerdo a las condiciones y estipulaciones de la
Seccion 3 01 de la Carta Constitucional de la Ciudad de Denton,
Texas, y por mepio de la presente, se ordena que se lleve a
cabo una eleccion municipal en la Ciudad de Denton, Texas, el
dia 5 de abril de 1986, con el proposito de elegir el Alcalde
al puesto 7 y miembros del Concilio a los puestos 4, 5 y 6
En el evento que se requiera una eliminatoria, dacha
eleccion se llevara acabo el sabado, 26 de abril de 1986
SECCION II
Las casillas de votacion para dacha eleccion el dia 5
de abril de 1986, deberan permanecer abiertas desde las 7 00
a m hasta las 7 00 p m y deberan sequir las siguientes

eleccion, incluyendo ayudantes bilingues como to requiere la

SECCION IV
Votacion por Ausencia sera conducida para la eleccion
que se llevara acabo el 5 de abril de 1986, y en el evento de
una eliminatoria para la eleccion sera el 26 de abril de 1986
en la oficina de Is Secretaria de la Ciudad en el Edificio
Municipal localizado en la calle de East McKinney en la Ciudad
de Denton, Texas, y las urnas para votacion por ausencia
deberan permanecer abiertas para votar en persona desde las
8 00 a m hasta las 5 00 p m , de lunes a viernes, durante las
horas asignadas para votar por ausencia
SECCION V
La Secretaria de la Ciudad, mediante la presente, esta
autorizgda para preparar la Cedula de Votacion para dacha
elecci.on, y para ejecutar todas y cada una de las tareas
requeridas por la Carta Constitucional de la Ciudad de Denton,
Texas, y por las leyes del Estado de Texas referentes a la
manera de llevar a cabo las eleccxones
