AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CLASSIFIED POSITIONS IN THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR THE
NUMBER OF PERSONS AUTHORIZED FOR EACH CLASSIFIED POSITION,
CHANGING THE NAME OF THE CLASSIFICATION OF ASSISTANT CHIEF TO
DIVISION COMMANDER, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Denton Firemen's and Policemen's Civil
Service Commission has recommended that the classifications
contained herein be established for the Fire Department of the
City of Denton, and
WHEREAS, Article 1269m, V T C S requires the City Council
to establish such classified positions by ordinance to include
the number of persons authorized for each classified positions,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
The following positions in the Fire Department of the City
of Denton are hereby established
FIRE CHIEF
DIVISION COMMANDER
BATTALION CHIEF
CAPTAIN
DRIVER
INCENTIVE DRIVER
FIRE FIGHTER
and all positions shall be classified positions except the Fire
Chief and one Division Commander who shall be appointed by the
Fire Chief and serve at his pleasure when a vacancy occurs in
that position
