AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE I OF CHAPTER 22 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DENTON TO PROVIDE FOR A PENALTY ON
DELINQUENT TAXES TO DEFRAY THE COST OF COLLECTION THEREOF,
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That Article I of Chapter 22 ("Taxation") is hereby amended
by adding a new section to hereafter read as follows
Section 22-5 Penalty for Delinquent Taxes
(a) On any taxes upon property, both real and personal,
that remain delinquent on July 1 of the year they
become delinquent, there is hereby imposed an
additional penalty of fifteen percent (15%) on the
amount of such delinquent taxes, penalty and
interest due
(b) The collector of such delinquent
