AN ORDINANCE CALLING AND ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE
CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, ON APRIL 2, 1983, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ELECTING FOUR COUNCILPERSONS TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DENTON, TEXAS FOR PLACES 1, 2, 3 AND 4, ORDERING THAT THE PUNCH
CARD ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM ADOPTED BY DENTON COUNTY BE USED
IN SAID ELECTION, PROVIDING FOR VOTING PLACES AND APPOINTING
ELECTION OFFICIALS AND PROVIDING FOR ELECTION SUPPLIES
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Pursuant to the terms and provisions of Section 3 01 of the
Charter of the City of Denton, Texas, a municipal elect~on
hereby ordered held ~n the C~ty of Denton, Texas on the 2nd day
of Aprll, 1983, for the purpose of electing four (4) council-
persons to the C~ty Council of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, as
follows
Place 1 - Counc~lperson to be elected for a two (2) year
term by the qualified voters of S~ngle Member
Dlstrlct No 1 of the Clty of Denton, Texas
Candldates for Place No 1 must reslde ~n Slngle
Member D~str~ct No 1
Place 2 - Counc~lperson to be elected for a two (2) year
term by the qualified voters of S~ngle Member
D~strlct No 2 of the C~ty of Denton, Texas
Candidates for Place No 2 must reside in S~ngle
Member D~str~ct No 2
Place 3 - Councllperson to be elected for a two (2) year
term by the quallfled voters of Single Member
D~str~ct No 3 of the City of Denton, Texas
Candidates for Place 3 must reslde ~n S~ngle
Member D~str~ct No 3
Place 4 Counc~lperson to be elected for a two (2) year
term by the quallfled voters of S~ngle Member

SECTION II
The polls for said electlon on April 2, 1983 shall be open
from 7 00 A M to 7 00 P M , and the election voting places or
polling places shall be as follows

The election officials for sa~d elect~on on April 3, 1982
shall be as follows

Central Counting Station
(b) Joann Garbac~k shall be the Manager of the
Central Counting Station
(c) Marllyn Robinson shall be the Tabulatlon
Supervlsor at the Central Counting Station
2 Jo Luker shall be the Presiding Judge at the
American Legion Hall ~n S~ngle Member D~str~ct No 1
3 Mary Jo P~ckens shall be the Presiding Judge at the
F~re Station No 4 ~n S~ngle Member D~strlct No 2
4 Lee Knox shall be the Presiding Judge at the North
Lakes Recreation Center an Single Member D~strlct

5 Mrs R B Escue, Jr shall be the Presiding Judge
at Den~a Park Recreation Center ~n S~ngle Member

6 Charlotte Allen, Clty Secretary shall conduct
absentee votzng under the Texas ~lectzon Code
The respectzve Pres,dzng Judge of each votzng Place and the
Central Counting ~tat~on shall be authorized to appoint a
suffzclent number of Clerks as they may deem necessary to asszst
them zn sazd election, zncludlng blllngual assistants as
required by law

SECTION IV
Absentee voting shall be conducted by the Office of the City
Secretary ~n the municipal buxlding on East McKlnney Street ~n
the C~ty of Denton, Texas, and the polls for absentee voting
shall be open for voting ~n person between the hour of 8 00 A M
and 5 00 P M Monday through Frlday durlng the times allowed for
absentee voting
SECTION V
The C~ty Secretary is hereby authorized to prepare the
offlc~al ballot for said elect~on and perform each and every act
required by the Charter and laws of the State of Texas for
holding elect~ons
SECTION VI
It ~s further ordered that the punch card electronic voting
system adopted by Denton County be used in said elect~on ~n
accordance with the term and provisions of Article 7 15 of the
Texas Election Code The punch card electronic voting system
shall be used for absentee voting in person and by mall

Carta Lonst~tuc~onal de la C~udad de Denton, £exas, y pot las leyes
del Estado de Texas referentes a la manera de llevar a cabo las
elecclones
