THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DEN£ON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That Section 24-67 of Chapter 24 "£rakflc" of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Denton is hereby amended to read as
follows
SECTION 24-67 REGULATION O~ VSHICL~$ W~I~HING OVER 12,000 POUNDS
(a) Definitions
The following words and phrases, when used ~n th~s Section
shall mean as follows
1 "Vehicle" means every mechanical device, lnt upon
or by which any person or property may be trans-
ported or drawn upon a public highway or street,
~ncludlng motor vhlcles, truck-tractors, road-
tractors, trailers, semi-trailers, and commercial
motor vehicles as those terms are deflned by state
law regulatlng registration of vehicles (Vernon's
Texas Civil Statutes, Article 6675a-1)
2 "Truck" is any vehicle whose gross body weight or
whose combined gross body and load weight exceeds
twelve thousand (12,000) pounds
3 "Gross Body Weight" means the actual weight of the
vehicle as registered by the governmental authority
which has licensed the vehicle for operation
4 "Truck Route" is a way over certain streets, as
designated here~n, over and along which trucks
comlng ~nto, traveling within and going out of the
City must operate
(b) Appllcatlon of Regulations
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or park a
truck over, on, along or upon any c~ty street which ~s not a
designated truck route except in accordance w~th and for the
purposes expressly allowed by thls Sectlon
(c) Exceptlons to Re~ulatlons
Thls ordinance shall not prohibit
1 Origin or Destination The operator of a truck
from departing from a designated truck route
for the purpose of

(a) leaving or reaching a truck terminal,
(b) loading or unloading cargo,
(c) repair or modification of such truck, or
(d) reaching or leaving any place where such truck
is used or to be used for the purpose for which
it was designed,
provided, however, that in departing from a designated truck
route the operator of said truck shall use the shortest
practical route, which is consistent with the reasonable
operation of the vehicle, between the truck route and the point
of origin or destination
2 Emergency Vehicles The operation of emergency
vehicles upon any street in the City
3 Utilities, Sanitation The operation of utility
or sanitation trucks while engaged in the
purpose or business for which the truck ~s used
or designed
4 Detoured Trucks The operation of trucks upon
any officially established detour in any case
where such truck would ldwfully be operated upon
the street for which such detour ~s established
5 Moving Buildings The operation of trucks used
in moving structures or a building where such
moving ~s done pursuant to permit
(d) Multiple Destination Points
All trucks enterlng the City and operating therein which
have multiple destination points shall, after leavlng the first
destination point, proceed to other destination points by the
shortest route usln9 streets upon which such truck is permitted
(e) Truck Routes Designated
The following truck routes, to be used in accordance with
the provislons of this Section are hereby established
1 Airport Road from Interstate 35E and Interstate
35W to Municipal Airport
2 Bell Avenue from Dallas Drive to Mlngo Road
3 Bell Avenue from Windsor Drive to Sherman Drive
4 Bonnie Brae from U S Highway 77 to Santa Fe
Railroad Crossing
5 Carroll Boulevard from Sherman Drive to Fort
Worth Drive
6 Dallas Drive from Eagle to Interstate 35E
7 5agle Dr~ve from Interstate 35E to Dallas Dr~ve

23 woodrow Lane from East McKlnney to Shady Oaks

Clty may cause to be posted appropriate signs and
markings on designated truck routes
SECTION II
person who shall violate a provision of this ordinance,
falls to comply therewith or with any of the requirements
thereof, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine
exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00) Each such person
be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every
portion thereof during which any v~olatlon of this
ordinance is committed, or continued, and upon conv~ctlon of any

such v~olations such person shall be punished within the l~m~ts
above
SECTION III
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word ~n this ordinance, or application thereo~
to any person or c~rcumstance ~s held ~nval~d by any court of
competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of thls ordinance, and the
C~ty Council of the City oi Denton, Texas, hereby declares bt
would have enacted such remaln~ng portions despite any such
invalidity
SECTION IV
That th~s ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of ~ts passage, and the Clty Secretary ~s
hereby d~rected to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be
published twice ~n the Denton Record-Chronicle, the offlc~al
newspaper of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, w~th~n ten (10) days of
the date of ~ts passage
