1983-011AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PARKIN~ OF VEHICLES ON THE SOUTH SIDE
OF SAWYER STRSET FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH AUSTIN STREET TO ITS
INTERSECTION WITH LOCUST STREET, PROVIDING A bEV~RABILITY CLAUSE,
PROVIDING A PENALTY NOT TO EXCSED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS, AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HLREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
when signs are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall
pdrk a vehicle at any time upon the ~ollowlng street in the City
of Denton to-wit
The south side of Sawyer Street irom Its intersection
with Austin Street to Its intersection with Locust Street
SECTION II
The provisions of Section I prohibiting the parking of
vehicles shall apply at all times to the street and part of
streets designated thereln except when it is necessary to stop a
vehicle to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with
the direction of a police officer or official traffic control
device
SECTION III
Any person ad3udged guilty of parking a vehicle ~n violation
of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished by
a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00)
SECTION IV
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any
person or clrcumstance is held lnvalld by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the
City of Denton, Texas, hereby decldres it would have enacted such
remaining portions despite any such lnvallG~ty

&ECTION V
That thls ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days
from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby
directed to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be published
twice in the Denton Record-Chronic±a, the official newspaper of
the City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days o~ the date o£ its
passage
