AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND DESCRIBING FOUR SINGLE MFMBFR ELECTION
DISTRICTS IN THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, DETERMINING THE POPULATION
OF THE CITY OF DENTON AND OF EACH SINGLE MEMBER DISTRICT, AND
PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE FROM AND AFTER
THE DATE OF PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE
Whereas, Section 2 01(d) of Article II of the Charter of the
City of Denton, Texas as amended by the qualified voters of the city
on January 19, 1980, requires that the city councll divide the czty
into four single member elect~on dxstrzcts for the electlon of
members of the city council, Now Therefore,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TFXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
The City of Denton, Texas is hereby d~vlded into four single
member geographic election districts Such single members gee-
graphic election districts are hereby created and described as
follows
District 1
Single member geographic elect~on d~strlct Nigher 1 shall
include the following 1980 Denton County, Texas census tracts,
established by the United States Census Bureau, to-w~t

Tract 207 762 Persons

SECTION II
The population of the City of Denton, according to the latest
available census data, is found to be approxImately 48,065 and the
City Council finds that each single member geographic election
districts herein created contains an approximate equivalent
population

This ordinance shall become effective from and after the date of
passage
