1982-100 260L AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND DESCRIBING FOUR SINGLE MFMBFR ELECTION DISTRICTS IN THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, DETERMINING THE POPULATION OF THE CITY OF DENTON AND OF EACH SINGLE MEMBER DISTRICT, AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE FROM AND AFTER THE DATE OF PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE Whereas, Section 2 01(d) of Article II of the Charter of the City of Denton, Texas as amended by the qualified voters of the city on January 19, 1980, requires that the city councll divide the czty into four single member elect~on dxstrzcts for the electlon of members of the city council, Now Therefore, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TFXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I The City of Denton, Texas is hereby d~vlded into four single member geographic election districts Such single members gee- graphic election districts are hereby created and described as follows District 1 Single member geographic elect~on d~strlct Nigher 1 shall include the following 1980 Denton County, Texas census tracts, established by the United States Census Bureau, to-w~t Tract 206 02 2,044 Persons Tract 207 762 Persons Tract 208 47 Persons (Block 101) Tract 209 4~3 Persons Tract 210 5,689 Persons Tract 211 1,835 Persons Tract 212 2,578 Persons Tract 215 427 Persons (Blocks 101, 102, 103, 106 § 109) 11,875 Persons or any part of any such tracts now or hereafter annexed as a part of the corporate limits of the City of Denton, Texas Single member geographic election District Number 1, as hereinabove described, Includes the £ollow~ng Denton County, Texas elect~on precincts as now establlshed by the Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas, to-wit 1 That portion of Precinct No 1-K lying north of McKlnney Street, East and South of M~ngo Road, West of Mocklngb~rd Lane and North and Northwest of Audra Lane 2All of Precinct 1-S in the City of Denton All of Precinct 1-V 4 That portion of Precinct 1-D lying North of Interstate Highway 1-55 East S That portion of Precinct 1-J lying North of Interstate Highway I-Sg East 6 Ail of Precinct 4-L except that port~on of Precinct 4-L lying south of Eagle Drive and West of Bernard Street 7That portion o£ Precinct 4-G lying East City Council finds that each single member geographic election districts herein created contains an approximate equivalent population SECTION III This ordinance shall become effective from and after
