CALLED TO ORDER: Called to order by President Bonnie McCormick at 5:36 pm.
PUBLIC FORUM: No members of public present
APPROVE MINUTES
The April 10, 2017, meeting minutes were approved.Jean Greenlaw made the motion to approve; Alice
Mankoff seconded.
LIBRARY REPORT: Terri Gibbs
• Hiring process for Director position
o Major and rapid turnover in director positions throughout the city
o Terri is vetting candidates for director; position is open through Friday
o Will present findings to Bryan Langley tomorrow
o Hope to fill the position by the end of the month; new director may start mid-June
0 24 applicants so far; 1 internal applicant
o Terri's last day is May 26
• Summer Reading Club Report
o Starts June 1—Summer Reading Challenge
o Challenging Denton to read 1,000,000 minutes
0 15Y 300 minutes =free book; 2nd 300 minutes = waterpark ticket for kids; each additional
300 minutes=entry for Chromebook drawing
0 5 activities included with each 300-minute block
o Friends will solicit membership during sign up times
o For all ages; biggest program of the year 7,035 participants last year
• Denton Policy Department and DPL
o Sgt. Dooley will have an office at Emily Fowler
o Library had to provide computer and other equipment
o In charge of the two shifts that cover Quakertown and the Square
FOUNDATION REPORT: Terri Gibbs
• Current balance is$15,651.51.
• On the verge of launching Biblio Commons. Soft launch has been super successful.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: Barbara Halbert
o Meet July 13.
o Book sale this weekend.
NEW BUSINESS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
• Bonnie McCormick presented a recognition to Barbara Halbert who is moving to North Carolina.
• Alice Mankoff said that she saw Doug Campbell and he said hello.
• Bonnie McCormick presented a poetry book to Terri in recognition of her service.
