AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
SPECIAL RUN-OFF MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON
APRIL 24, 1982
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
The City Council finds and declares that the April 24, 1987
special run-off municipal election was duly ordered for the
purpose of electing a Mayor to Place 7 and one Councllperson to
Place 6 on the Council, that proper notice of said elect~on was
duly given and election off~clals appointed, that sa~d election
was duly held and the returns of the e]ect~on officials have
been delivered to the Council, all in accordance w~th the laws
of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of the Clt¥
of Denton
SECTION II
The official returns of the election officIals having been
opened, examined and canvassed, the Council herebv finds and
declares that 2,747 votes were cast at said elect~on, and that
the votes cast for each place on the Council were as follows
FOR MAYOR PLACE 7
RICHARD O STEWART 1,413 votes
KATHY ORR 1,304 votes
FOR CITY COUNCIL PLACE 6
JACK Q BARTON 1,670 votes
GRANT JACOBSON 953 votes
SECTION III
The Council f~nds and declares that each candidate listed
below received a majority of the votes cast for each place on
the Council and that each candidate listed below is hereby
declared to be elected to the Clt¥ Council of the C~ty of Denton
PLACE 7 - RICHARD 0 STEWART
PLACE 6 - JACK Q BARTON
and such candidate shall assume the duties of his off~ce on the
date that he takes the official oath of off~ce
SECTION IV
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 27th day of April, 1982
