AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, REDUCING THE MAXIMUM
PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT ON WELCH STREET BETWEEN THE INTERqECTION
OF HICKORY STREET AND THE INTERSECTION OF EAGLE DRIVE TO TWENTY
(20) MILES PER HOUR, PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED
TWO HUNDRED ($200 00) DOLLARS, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE,
AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Based upon an engineering and traffic investigation, the
City Council hereby determines that the reasonable and safe
prima facle maximum speed limit on Welch 9treet between the
intersection of Hickory Street and the intersection of Eagle
Drive be twenty (20) miles per hour
SECTION II
An individual adjudged guilty of exceeding this speed limit,
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and punished by a fine not to
exceed Two Hundred ($200 00) Dollars
SECTION III
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof
to any person or circumstances is held ~nvalld by any court of
competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the
City Council of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares
would have enacted such remaining portions despite any ~uch
~nvalldlty
SECTION IV
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of its passage, and the City Secetary
hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of
the date of its passage
