THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS PERTAINING TO SANITARY SEWER qERVICE
RATES AND CHARGES, AMENDING SECTION 25-60 OF CHAPTFR 25 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS PERTAINING TO WATER RATES AND
CHARGES AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Section 25-49 and Section 25-60 of Chapter 25 of the Code of
the City of Denton, Texas are hereby amended so that the same
shall hereafter read as follows
DIVISION 2 SERVICE RATES
Section 25-49 Schedule
The rates to be charged by the City of Denton for sanitary
sewer service shall be based on water consumption and are hereby
amended as follows
(a) Residential Rate (S-1 Rate)
(1) Monthly Rate
Customer Charge $3 00 per 30 day billing period
Volume Charge $0 85 per 1,000 qallons
Billing shall be based on ninety-eight (98%) percent
of water consumption but shall not exceed a maximum
of twenty-fIve thousand (25,000) gallons Monthly
billings for the period March through November shall
be based on the second highest monthly rate of water
consumption during the Immediately prior months of
December through February Billings for the months
of December through February shall be based on
actual consumption New residential customers that
do not have a full prior nonlrrlgatlonal history
(December through February) will have a maximum b~ll
based on nlnety-e~ght (98%) percent of water
consumption or seven thousand (7,000) gallons of
water consumption, whichever is less
(2) Availability
Applicable for single-family residential use Where
less than five (5) units of a multiple dwelllnq are
served by a single sewer service line, the minimum
b~ll and the number of gallons in each category
shall be multiplied by the number of family or
housekeeping un~ts
(3) Payment
Billing for service hereunder will be at the net
monthly rate, payment of which is due on or before
the due date shown on the statement There shall be

a charge of qeventy ($70 00) Dollars for reconnecting
such discontinued service
(b) Commercial and Industrial (S-2 Rate)
(1) Net Monthly Rate
Customer Charge $6 50 per 30 day billing period
Volume Charge $0 95 per 1,000 gallons
Billing based on eighty (80%) percent of water
consumption
In addition to the above charge for commercial and
industrial, there will be added to the net monthly
rate an industrial surcharge based on the following
formula
Cu=Vu [(Bu-260) B + (Su-260) SI
Where Cu is the surcharge for user X
Vu is the billing volume for user X
Bu is the tested BOD level for user X or 260 mg/1,
whichever is greater
B is the unit cost factor for treating one unit
of BOD per 1,000 gallons ($0 000393)
Su ~s the tested SS level for user X or 260 mg/1,
whichever is greater
S ~s the unit cost factor for treating one unit
of SS per 1,000 gallons ($0 000397)
(2) Availability
Applicable for commercial and ~ndustrlal use other
than for those users under Rate S-1
(3) Payment Same as S-1 Rate above Where user does
not have separately metered water service, sewer
charges shall be based on usage of other metered
customers of l~ke classIfication multlDlled by the
percentage factor necessary to equate site
(c) Sales for Resale (S-3) $0 85 per ],000 gallons
(d) Sales to C~ty Accounts (S-4) $0 90 per 1,000 gallons
(e) Effluent Sales To Steam
Generating Plant (S-5) $0 25 per 1,000 gallons
(f) Customers Outside City Limits Customers outside the
city limits shall be charged the appropriate rate
schedule as listed above multiplIed by one hundred
f~fteen (115%) percent
(g) Church Rates
Customer Charge $3 00 per 30 day billing period
Volume Charge $0 85 Der 1,000 gallons
Bllllng shall be based on ninety-eight (98%) percent of
water consumption Maximum b~lllng of March through
November shall be based on water consumption during the
second h~ghest nonlrrlgat~onal month (December through
February) New church customers that do not have a full
prior nonlrrlgatlonal history (November through March)
will have a maximum bill based on n~net¥-elght (98%)

Section 25-60 Rate Schedule
The rates to be charged by the Cltv of Denton for water
servlces are hereby established as follows
(a) Residential Users Inside of City Limits (W-1 Rate)
(1) Monthly Rate
Customer Charge $3 25 per 30 day billing period
Wlnter Volume Charge (October-May)
All consumption $1 10 per 1,000 gallons
Summer Volume Charge (June-September)
0-20,000 gallons $1 10 per 1,000 gallons
Above 20,000 gallons $1 30 per 1,000 qallons
(2) M~nlmum Charge $5 00
Commercial Users $8 00
(3) Availability
Residential Service Applicable for single-family

(1) Rate and monthly charge Each commercial or
industrial establishment requiring a standby fire
service l~ne (unmetered) to serve sprInklers or
other private f~re-flght~ng equipment shall pay for
this service each month as follows

For each e~ght-~nch fire service l~ne $11 00
(2) Availability
Each f~re service l~ne ~s not to be used for any
purpose other than f~re f~ghtlnq
(h) Customers Outside C~t¥ Llm~ts
Except for W-3 Rate Customers, customers outside the
city limits shall be charged the apDroprlate rate
schedule as l~sted above multiplied by one hundred
fifteen (115%) percent
