CALLED TO ORDER: Called to order by President Bonnie McCormick at 5:30.
PUBLIC FORUM: No members of public present
APPROVE MINUTES
The February 13, 2017 meeting minutes were approved.Jean Greenlaw made the motion to approve;
Patrick McLeod seconded.
LIBRARY REPORT: Terri Gibbs
• Seed library began March 1 at Emily Fowler Library. Interest has been good.
• Vita United Way Volunteers sent an update on the Tax Program. North Branch has completed
42% of all Denton County program tax returns, returning $1,852,355 as of March 6 to Denton
area families. The program runs until April 15, 2017.
• Budget requests for FY 17-18: A permanent increase in materials funding with the dollar amount
yet to be determined. A new budget process is in place whereby city departments will present
to City Council as well as City staff. Fowler will also be assisting the Police Dept. in a request for a
permanent police officer to patrol the Quakertown park area and the city buildings located
there, including Emily Fowler Central Library.
• Presentation: Library Marketing by Sarah Fullwood
o Sarah discussed the need for branding and uniformity across library marketing
materials. Discussion followed as to the outlets for marketing and giveaways.
FOUNDATION REPORT: Terri Gibbs
• Current checking account balance is$15,651.61.
o Trustees met Feb. 23 and decided to reinvest the CD which currently has a balance of
$101,454.70 in the BBVA bank.
• FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: No report
