CALLED TO ORDER: Called to order by President Bonnie McCormick at 5:30 p.m.
PUBLIC FORUM: No members of the public were present
APPROVE MINUTES:The March 13, 2017 meeting minutes were approved.Jean Greenlaw made the
motion to approve;Alice Mankoff seconded.
LIBRARY REPORT:Terri Gibbs
Director Gibbs introduced Kerry Montz who made a presentation about business librarianship. Some
highlights:
• Primarily aimed at Denton area small business
• Library meeting rooms can be reserved for training
• Popular classes include marketing for small businesses
• Participants have formed a support group
• Offerings are expanding to serve non-profit
Ms. Gibbs then gave the library report and shared the budget presentation for the upcoming 2017-18
budget, which will be given to the Finance and City Manager's office as well as the City Council.After
reporting on library finances, the library is asking for a $43,500 permanent increase to the materials
budget.
FOUNDATION REPORT: Checking account: $15,651.51
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT:The Friends Board meets this Thursday, April 13, 2017 and board
liaison Barbara Halbert will be unable to attend. Terri Gibbs will take notes and report at the next Library
Board meeting on May 8, 2017.
