AN ORDINANCE A~ENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF CHAPTER 17 OF THE CODE
OF ORDIINANCES OF THB CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS PERTAINING TO THE
COLLECTION OF GARBAGE, TRASH AND RUBBISH, AMENDING SECTION 12-5
TO PROVIDE FOR A DIRECTOR OF SANITATION, AMENDING SECTION
12-19(b) TO PROVIDE FOR RESIDENTIAL FEES FOR THE COLLECTION OF
GARBAGE, TRASH AND RUBBISH, AMENDING SECTION 12-20[c) TO PROVIDE
FOR THB COLLECTION OF GARBAGE, AND PROVIDE FOR THE COLLECTION OF
GARBAG~ FROM BUILDINGS CONTAINING FOUR OR LESS DWELLING UNITS,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF OCTOBER 1, lO81 AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION
THB COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Section 12-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the C~ty of
Denton, Texas xs hereby amended to read as follows
"Section 12-3 Sanitation Dlvlslon Director
The Head of the Sanitation Dlwslon shall be the
Director of Public Works of the City of Denton, Texas"
SECTION II
Section 12-19(b) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Denton, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows
"(b) The charge for collecting garbage, trash and
rubbish from each ~nd~vldual family unit shall be
Slx Dollars ($6 00) per month Ail such fees are
subject to being increased by the sanitation
division if more than the minimum service is
required"
S~CTION III
Section 12-20~c) of the Code of Ordinances of the C~ty of
Denton, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows
"(a) Buildings or connected series of bulld~ngs
containing four (4) or less dwellln~ units w~ll be
billed at the rate of Slx Dollars ¢$6 00) ~er
unit Multiple dwelling units classified as
fraternities, sororities, boardinghouses and
dormitories shall be charged as a commercial or
institutional service Any multiple dwelling
units or commercial establishment which reqmres
more than the minimum service described here~n ~s
subject to having the charges increased by the
c~ty sanitation d~vls~on based upon the additional
service reqmred Any multiple residential
dwelling ~ncludlng mobile homes shall be bll~ed
~nd~vldually at the residential rate of Slx
Dollars f$6 00) per unit
SECTION IV
That ~f any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word ~n th~s ordinance, or application thereof
to any person or c~rcumstances ~s held ~nval~d by any court of
competent jurisdiction, such hold~n~ shall not affect the
validity of the remaining port~ons o£ tb~s ordinance, and tbe
C~ty Council of the City of Denton, Texas hereby declares ~t
would have enacted such remaining port~ons despite any such
~nvalld~ty
SECTION V
That th~s ordinance shall become effective on the 1st day of
October, 1981, and the new rates w~ll be b~lled on the customer
utility statements sent by the C~t¥ of Denton on or after
October 1, 1081 The C~ty Secretary ~s hereby d~rected to cause
the caption o£ th~s ordinance to be published twice ~n the
Denton Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of the C~ty of
Denton, Texas, w~th~n ten ~10) days of the date of ~ts passage
