AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, DETERMINING AND
ESTABLISHING THE MOkXIFfOM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT ON THAT
CERTAIN PORTION OF DALLAS DRIVE BEGINNING AT A POINT 000 FEET
NORTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF DALLAS DRIVE AND TEASLEY LANF,
THENCE IN A SOUTHERLY DIRECTION ON DALLAS DRIVE TO A POINT ~0
FEET NORTH OF ITS INTERSECTION WITH PIPING ROCK TO BE THIRTY-
FIVE (5S) MILES PER HOUR, DETERMINING AND ESTABLISHING THE
MAXIMUM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT ON THAT CERTAIN PORTION OF
DALLAS DRIVE BEGINNING AT A POINT 000 FEET NORTH OF THE
INTERSECTION OF DALLAS DRIVE AND TEASLEY LANE, THENCE IN A
SOUTHERLY DIRECTION ON DALLAS DRIVE TO A POINT gO0 FEET SOUTH
OF ITS INTERSECTION WITH THE EAST FRONTAGE ROAD OF INTERSTATE
HIGHWAY 3~E TO BE FORTY-FIVE (4g] MILES PER HOUR, PROVIDING A
PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED ($200 00) DOLLARS,
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN FFFECTIVE
DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Based upon an engineering and traffic investigation, the
City Council hereby determines that the reasonable and safe
prima facle maximum speed limit on that certain port,on of
Dallas Drive beginning at a point 000 feet north of the
~ntersectlon of Dallas Dr~ve and Teasley Lane, thence in a
southerly direction on Dallas Drive to a point g0 feet nortb of
~ts Intersection w~th P~p~ng Rock to be th~rty-f~ve (~) miles
per hour
SECTION II
Based upon an engineerIng and traffic ~nvestlgatlon, the
City Council hereby determines that the reasonable and safe
prima fac~e maximum speed l~mlt on that certain port,on of
Dallas Drive beginning at a point 000 feet north of the
~ntersectlon of Dallas Drive and Teasley Lane, thence in a
southerly direction on Dallas Drive to a point g00 Feet south
of its intersection with the east frontage road of Interstate
Hzghway 35E to be forty-fIve [4~) miles Der hour
SECTION III
An individual ad3udged guilty of exceeding this speed
limit, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and punished by a fine
not to exceed Two Hundred [$200 00] Dollars
SECTION IV
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word ~n th~s ordinance, or application
thereof to any person or c~rcumstances ~s held ~nval~d by any
court of competent 3ur~sd~ct~on, such holding shall not a£fect
the validity of the remaining portions of th~s ordinance, and
the C~ty Council of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares
~t would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such
~nval~d~ty
SECTION V
That th~s ordinance shall become effective fourteen
days from the date of ~ts passage, and the C~ty Secetary ~s
hereby d~rected to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be
published twice ~n the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, w~th~n ten flO~ days of
