AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, DETERMINING AND
ESTABLISHING THE MAXIMUM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT ON A CERTAIN
PORTION OF HIGHWAY LOOP 288 BETWEEN THE INTMRSECTION OF THE
WEST SERVICE ROAD OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY ~gE AND A POINT 720
FEET EAST OF THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAY LOOP 288 AND THE
M K T RAILROAD TRACKS TO BE FORTY-FIVE ~4g) MILFS PfR HOUR,
PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO FXCfED TWO HUNDRfD
($200 00) DOLLARS, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Based upon an engineering and traffic investigation, the
City Council hereby determines that the reasonable and safe
prima facle maximum speed limit on that certain portion of
Highway Loop 288 between the intersection of the west service
road of Interstate H~ghway 3SE and a point 320 feet east of the
intersection of Highway Loop 788 and the M K T Railroad Tracks
~s forty-five (45) miles per hour
SECTION II
An individual ad3udged guilty of exceeding this speed
hmlt, shall be guilty of a m~sdemeanor, and punished by a f~ne
not to exceed Two Hundred ($200 00) Dollars
SECTION III
That ~f any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application
thereof to any person or circumstances is held invalid by any
court of competent 3ur~sd~ctlon, such holding shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of th~s ordinance, and
the City Council of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares
it would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such
~nvahd~ty
SECTION IV
That th~s ordinance shall become effective fourteen [14)
days from the date of Its passage, and the City qecetar¥ ~s
hereby d~rected to cause the caption o£ th~s ordinance to be
published twice ~n the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, w~th~n ten ~10) days of
