AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 24-67 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
DENTON, TEXAS PROHIBITING THE OPERATION OF VEHICLES HAVING A
GROSS WEIGHT IN EXCESS OF TWELVE (12,000) THOUSAND POUNDS ON
BELL AVENUE BETWEEN SHERMAN DRIVE AND WITHERS STREET AND ON
GREENWOOD STREET FROM SHERMAN DRIVE TO CHERRYWOOD STREET,
PROVIDING FOR EXCEPTIONS, PROVIDING A PENALTY, AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Section 24-67 of the Code of the Czty of Denton, Texas
hereby amended to read as follows
Sectton 24-67 12,000 POUND VEHICLES PROHIBITED
ON CERTAIN STREETS
(a) Unless otherwise provtded here~n, no motor vehicle,
truck-tractor, farm-tractor, road-tractor, commercial motor
vehicle or motor bus hawng a gross vehicle wetght ~n excess of
twelve {12,000) thousand pounds shall be operated over or on
the following porttons of the followtng public streets tn
Denton, Texas, to-wit
1 Bell Avenue between Sherman Drive and
Wtthers Street
2 Greenwood Street from Sherman Drtve to
Cherrywood Street
(b) As used ~n thts sectton, "gross vehtcle wetght" means
the manufacturer's recommended gross vehicle wetght or the
total gross wetght for whtch the vehtcle ts regtstered,
whichever ts greater
(c) The prows~ons of this ordtnance shall not apply to
any emergency vehtcle o£ the ctty or state, or to any motor
vehtcle, truck-tractor, farm-tractor, road-tractor, commercial
motor vehtcle or motor bus making del~vertes and/or taktng
loads to desttnatlons on Bell Avenue between Sherman Drtve and
Wtthers Street or tn the tmmed~ate area of a street whtch
~ntersects Bell Avenue betwen Sherman Dr~ve and W~thers Street
which reqmres travel over Bell Avenue between Sherman Drtve
and Withers Street
SECTION II
Any person who violates any provision of this Section shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall
be punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred ($200
Dollars Each day such a wolatlon shall continue or be
permitted, shall be treated as a separate offense
SECTION III
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen
days from the date of ~ts passage, and the City Secretary is
hereby d~rected to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the City of Denton, Texas within ten (10) days of
