AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS IN THE CITY OF
DENTON, TEXAS FOR ANGLE AND PARALLEL PARKING, PROVIDING FOR THE
LIMITATIONS FOR VEHICLES PARKING ON SUCH CITY STREETS,
PROHIBITING THE PARKING OF VEHICLES UPON CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS
IN THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR SIGNS GIVING NOTICE
OF TIME LIMITATIONS AND NO-PARKING ZONES, PROVIDING FOR THE
REMOVAL OF VEHICLES PARKED IN NO-PARKING ZONES, PROVIDING FOR
UNRESTRICTED PARKING LOCATIONS, PROVIDING A PENALTY OF NOT TO
EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE,
PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES
THAT CONFLICT HEREWITH, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
(a) Unless otherwise posted or marked as a no-parking zone
pursuant to Section III of th~s ordinance, the following
described publxc streets or parts of streets ~n the C~ty of
Denton, Texas are hereby designated for angle parking for a
continuous per~od of t~me not to exceed two (2) hours between
the hours of 8 00 A M to 5 00 P M from Monday through Friday,
~nclus~ve, of each week
STREET EXTENT
Oak from Locust to Elm, both s~des
Elm from Oak to H~ckory, both s~des
Hickory from Elm to Locust, both s~des,
Carroll to Cedar, south s~de
only
Locust from H~ckory to Oak, both s~des
Walnut from Locust to Elm, north side
only
Austin from H~ckory to McK~nney, east
s~de only
(b) A person commits an offense, w~thout regard to h~s
mental state, ~f the person parks a vehicle for more than two
[2) continuous hours between the hours of 8 00 A M to 5 00
P M from Monday through Friday, ~nclus~ve, of each week on any
of the public streets described ~n subsection (a) of th~s
section when such location ~s posted or marked g~wng not~ce
thereof
(c) Any person convicted of a violation of th~s section
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished by a fine not to
exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00)
SECTION II
(a) Unless otherwise posted or marked as a no-parking zone
pursuant to Section III of this ordinance, the following
described public streets or parts of streets ~n the City of
Denton, Texas are hereby designated for parallel parking for a
continuous period of time not to exceed two (2) hours between
the hours of 8 00 A M to $ 00 P M from Monday through Friday,
inclusive, of each week

(b) A person commits an offense, without regard to his
mental state, ~f the person parks a vehicle for more than two
(2) continuous hours between the hours of 8 O0 A M and S 00
P M from Monday through Friday, inclusive, of each week on any
of the public streets described in subsection (a) of this
section when such location is posted or marked glwng not~ce
thereof

(¢) Any person convicted of a violation of this section

SECTION III
{a) When a location xs posted or marked as a no-parking
zone, no person shall park a vehicle at any time upon any of
the following public streets or parts of streets xn the City of
Denton, Texas, to-wit

Sycamore from Bell to Carroll, both sides
Pecan from Austin to Cedar, both sides
Cedar from McK~nney to Mulberry, both
s~des
Bolivar from McKlnney to Oak, both s~des
(b) The prowslons of subsection (a) of th~s section
prohibiting the parking of vehicles shall apply at all t~mes to
the streets and parts of streets designated there~n except when
it ~s necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other
traffic or in compliance w~th the d~rectlon of a police officer
or official traffic-control device on those streets or parts of
streets described ~n subsection (a) of this section
(c) Any police officer of the C~ty of Denton ~s hereby
authorized to remove and tow away or cause to be removed and
towed away by a commercial towing serwce any vehicle found
parked in a no-parking zone ~n wolatlon of the provisions of
subsection (a) of th~s section Such vehicle shall be taken to

a place designated or maintained by the police department for
such purpose and kept until application for redemption ~s made
by the owner or agent pursuant to Section 24~131 of the Code of
Ordinances of the C~ty of Denton
(d) Any person conwcted of a v~olat~on of th~s section
shall be guilty of a m~sdemeanor and punished by a f~ne not to
exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00)
SECTION IV
If no postings or markings g~ve not~ce that a location
under Section III of th~s ordinance ~s a no-parking zone, or
that a location under Sections I and II of th~s ordinance ~s a
two hour parking zone, the parking regulation for such
locations shall be unrestricted parking
SECTION V
That Section 1-$ of the Code of Ordinances of the C~ty of
Denton ~s ~ncorporated ~nto the ordinance as ~f set out ~n full
here~n, and the penalty by f~ne not to exceed Two Hundred
Dollars ($200 00) ~s applicable hereto, and ~t ~s hereby
declared unlawful to park any vehicle on any port~on of the
above described public streets ~n wolat~on of Sections I, II,
or III of th~s ordinance
SECTION VI
That ~f any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word ~n th~s ordinance, or application
thereof to any person or c~rcumstances ~s held ~nval~d by any
court of competent ~ur~sd~ct~on, such holding shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of th~s ordinance, and
the C~ty Council of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares
~t would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such
~nval~d~ty
SECTION VII
That th~s ordinance shall repeal every prior ordinance and
prows~on of the C~ty of Denton Code of Ordinances ~n conflict

herewith, and as to all other ordinances or provisions of the
Code of Ordinances of the C~ty of Denton not ~n direct conflict
herewith, th~s ordinance shall be and ~s hereby made cumulattve
SECTION VIII
That the repeal of any ordinance or any port~on thereof by
the preceding sections shall not affect or ~mpa~r any act done
or r~ght vested or accrued or any proceeding, smt or
prosecution had or commenced ~n any cause before such repeal
shall take effect, but every such act done, or right vested or
accrued, or proceedings, su~t or prosecution had or commenced
shall remain ~n full force and effect to all ~ntents or
purposes as ~f such ordinance or part thereof so repealed had
remained in force
SECTION IX
That th~s ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of ~ts passage, and the C~ty Secretary ~s
hereby d~rected to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be
published twice ~n the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, w~th~n ten (10) days of
the date of ~ts passage
